Two England cricket internationals who drove side-by-side at up to 125mph on the M1 in Leicestershire have been given two-month driving bans.
Surrey player Rikki Clarke, 23, and Middlesex batsman Owais Shah, 26, were arrested in Loughborough. They admitted speeding before town magistrates.

The pair were pulled over late at night in December while returning from an England A get-together in Nottingham.

Shah was convicted on Monday, while Clarke had his case heard in February.

Rejected claim

The court was told Shah was driving a Vauxhall Astra and Clarke was in a convertible BMW 330Ci when they were spotted by police on 10 December.

Shah denied reaching 125mph, claiming his own speed was more in the region of "only" 100mph.

But magistrates rejected his claim after the court was told Clarke had already admitted reaching 125mph at an earlier court appearance.

The pair have both played for the full national team

Shah, who was also fined £800, told police he had been desperate to get home to see his wife after training duties had kept him away from her.

I have to agree with shah, there is no way an Astra is going to do 125moh!!! that's an absolute disgrace, it's cos he's brown i reckon

Did anyone know that Shah got married last year to a goree called Gemma I think?

The two month ban is a disgrace to other drivers. I know of people who were going at 29mph in what was normally a 30mph zone which had been temporarily restricted to 20mph who were given 3 penalty points on ther licence.

These guys were driving at 125 mph, which is almost double the national speed limit of 70 mph, what sort of justice is this and what sort of crap argument that Shah had for driving so fast.

Hahahahah so typically british driving everyone does it, its just making sure you don't get caught.
