PPL Rule Book (Suggestions)

I have been kindly asked by Boi to create an official PPL rule book.

I would like to ask for suggestions in terms of what kind of rules you would like to see. The managers will get to decide the final list of rules but suggestions can be made by anyone.

As of now the rule book is an empty slate. Those that have had previous experience should be able to come up with some effective rules for the upcoming season.

Thanks in advance.

... This thread reminds me of the atmosphere at a test match in Pakistan.

Absolutely dead quiet.

Hi Usama, off-topic but is it possible if I could register a team of my own? The Singapore Slingers?

Firstly its not a rule as such but when the players will be picked, common sense will have to be used.
ie/ Mohammad Yousuf CANNOT be picked because of his ODI bowling average.

Usama, the PP leagues thread has been dead for a little while now. I'll PM a mod to add this to sticky this in time pass also so it'll perhaps get more attention and make people more aware.

- 5 International Players Can Be Chosen In A Playing X I
- You Need To Post Your Team On The Match Thread Before 3.00 G M T On The Match Day.
- Managers Will Calculate The Averages Themselves! ( So That There Is No Complaining Going On)
- If the Manager/Captain forgets to post team then their Previous XI will be chosen

C'mon guys anymore. In a team or yet to be picked by a team/a new manager. Everyone is welcome...

Once we've decided upon the rules etc, we'll decide upon new teams/managers etc

I am putting myself forward for managing a new team. To that end I would suggest that since we are starting from scratch and also that there are likely to be more than one new managers in this round, maybe it would be a good idea to have a few warm up matches or a quick warm up tournament just before the start of the actual PPL. This would allow everyone especially the new managers to get a first hand feel of everything before the actual tournament.

I know this is not a rule per se, but what do you guys think?

Mohsin, you're right we need to make it more REALISTIC!
Previous tournament we had some strange stats like yousuf bowling ? a bowler of average 7? By rules we could make it more realistic and have more fun.

OK Paradox, Hasan, PoP you guys got any ideas in regards to rules for the new season? Anything, just say it and we'll see if it fits

Hasan, we may be able to have a few matches before the tourny proper but for that we need to get the rules and regulations sorted out
Have a look through some of the old match commentary threads in the forum to familiarise yourself (i recommend some of the earlier matches so that'll probably be from page 3/4 etc in the PP leagues forum.

Well firstly I have to say credit has to go to Usama and Boi for managing last season's PPL well - it was a good success. I did just register for the forums recently but I did lurk around the forums for a very long time as a guest and I keenly followed the PPL.

I completely agree with every single rule listed above. Will contribute some of my own if I think of any good ones.

Well, we CAN pick players like Mohammad Yousuf etc,.

It's not like we can't. We can stop players who have unrealistic bowling averages from bowling by simply putting their bowling averages as 99.

Thanks Usama for opening this thread. I'm quite busy right now so might not be on PP as much.
Mohsin, The way I tried to combat that Yousuf problem was by any player who had a unrealistic average in a department such as bowling (99).
This the way we combat such things.

Some that come to mind:

1) Maximum number of international players per team. Is there a limit in place at the moment? Can that be increased or should it be decreased?

2) Possibly a minimum number of overs bowled as one criterion in selecting a bowler. This would ensure that players like Yousuf are not used as bowlers?

3) Minimum number of innings played by a batsman as a criterion for selecting a batsman. That way someone with a 100 average after 2 games or something should not be included.

3) Where possible, playing XI's should be declared about 1 day before the actual match by managers in a playing thread.

4) Afridi and Nazir's averages should be adjusted to at least a few billion and strike rate of 600.

Those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

Thanks Raz for the reply.

(1) 5 Intl players are allowed for each team
(2) Dont worry the 'Yousuf' problem wont happen, we know how to solve it.
(3) Is that Intl player or PP player? If Intl we actually have kept a rule that the player needs to play 25 games before he can be selected in PPL team. Only one player in the drafts can be chosen per team who has played less than 25.
(4) I agree with you there.
(5) Raz, If I was running this thing all by myself, I would do that straight away. Thing is, I am not, so unfortunately other managers wouldnt like that to happen.

Thanks alot for your reply, yaar.

Though you're a little late, player drafting has taken place unfortunately. Next season
