Lee - Fastest ball of the ashes- 157.4 km/h (97.8mph) in the second test. 154.5km/h (96.0mph) in the fourth.

Flintoff - Very fast in the second test, 153.4km/h (95.3mph). Was often in the 148-151km/h range and really stamped himself as an express bowler of rare ilk to my mind.

Tait - was around 150km/h with his third ball in Test cricket. He exceeded 150km/h on many occasions throughout Englands first innings but did not bowl faster than 151.0km/h (93.8mph). The fastest ball of his short spell in the second dig was 150.6km/h

Harmison - exceeded 150km/h in the first test but hasn't really been much passed 146kmh since.

Gillespie - Very slow on the whole. Often around 130km/h and lacking penetration.
In the third test he cranked it up to 145km/h and was often over 140km/h, but to get there he had to spray it all over the place. Either way, his time was up......... at least for now.

Jones - Usually at 137km/h, but his new-found omnidirectional swing has meant that he has evolved from being a potential express paceman to being a speedster with venom. He can still exceed 145km/h and has touched this mark a few times over the series.

Notes: Last Ashes series in England, the home side had a nothing attack. Slow and useless tryers... This time they have the best and fastest attack that England has produced in most peoples lifetimes.

I'd be interested to see the reaction of the newly-arrived bandwagon fans were he to be selected, being a 'boring' seam and swing, line and length merchant who can't reverse swing the ball, get up to any major pace or provide any good quotes for the media. The long term fans shouldn't object though... not if they remember his heroics at the Oval a couple of years ago.
