Well I am at a loss of words really.

DRS or no DRS, if the umpire is not sure whether the ball has hit the bat before it hit the pad, why can't the moron consult the third umpire instead of "going by his instincts"?

Why go to the third umpire only for run outs and those low catches?

I think weak umpires ala Gould and that other buffoon look at player reactions when fielding, rather than the actual incident.
