London Olympics | Boxing Referees

What utter rubbish refereeing . Anyone watch the Iranian vs Cuban fight . The German ref disqualified the Iranian for absolutely nothing .

What is going on with Boxing Refereeing in the Olympics!!

Just tuned in for Boxing and found out Iranian boxer didn't shake hand with referee and took off from stage.

Another controversial decision!?

I actually don't know what happened as I tuned in late. There has been lot of bad decisions I heard! Is fixing going on or what!?

Not good.

You missed the one from two fights before...the refereeing has been shambolic and thats being as generous as I can...its actually been disgusting...the Iranian DQ was an absolute disgrace...he was actually looking quite good against the Cuban...

The one earlier was a ref allowing the fighter who was on shaky legs after catching one early in the third round to gain time by never warning or punishing him from falling every time he got hit by a punch...he kept calling a slip...it was an absolute travesty...

Waste of time watching this...

I would ask Olympic authorities to investigate. This doesn't look good. I mean one or two iffy decisions are ok, it could be judgmental decision by referees. But there are just too many mistakes happening.

Seeing the Azeri get given a gift reminded me of this...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-15020658

Olympic Boxing is dirty frankly...the worst of which is Roy Jones loss in the final of the Olympics...the Korean dude he lost to lost all five of his fights but never on the judges cards...I honestly don't know why I bother watching this...just infuriates me...

The Korean dude actually lost ALL of his bouts during the Olympics...

Look how embarrassed he looks during the awards ceremony...

There's one thing typically American about the video that you posted. He is mentioning it clearly that Americans did the same in Olympics before that, but they only highlighted the Korean Olympics incident.

Olympic boxing: Satoshi Shimizu wins appeal against controversial defeat

The Japanese bantamweight boxer Satoshi Shimizu has won his appeal against his controversial defeat to Azerbaijan's Magomed Abdulhamidov.

In the final round of Wednesday night's fight Shimizu, who was trailing 12-5, knocked down his opponent six times with Abdulhamidov also receiving a two-point penalty. However, the judges awarded the fight to the Azerbaijani with a score of 22-17. The result was greeted with loud booing by the crowd at the ExCeL Centre. "I was shocked by the final scores," Shimizu said. "He fell down so many times. Why didn't I win? I don't understand."

A statement on the International Boxing Association website read: "After reviewing the video of Bout #105 involving Bantamweights Satoshi Shimizu (Japan) and Magomed Abdulhamidov (Azerbaijan), the Competition Jury made the following decision:

"The boxer from Azerbaijan fell down six times during the 3rd round. According to our rules, the Referee should have counted at least three times. In this case, following the AIBA Technical & Competition Rules, the decision should have been RSC (Referee Stop Contest); Therefore the protest lodged by the Japanese corner is accepted and the result of this bout overturned."

The AIBA are now considering whether to sanction the referee of the bout.

The Japanese fighter Shimizu is through as the Olympic committee have overturned the original decision after a shocking refereeing display which originally put through the Azeri Abdulhamidov...

The ref has also been expelled...ridiculously the one who shafted the Iranian has been given a 5 day suspension and the original decision still stands...pathetic frankly...the Iranian deserved a rematch at the very least...

Another two controversial decisions. Happy to see Vijender winning but honestly, American boxer was 2-3 points ahead imo.

Yup hearing this from my friends that Krishanan shouldn't have won! I won't be disappointed if none of the Indian guys win any boxing medal.

Just proud of them participating.

What a let down of game! Disgrace really.

May be that's why I love Judo and UFC more. I am glad I am not big fan of boxing.

yeah, the Brit shouldn't of had a 7 point lead going into the 3rd round that's for sure, even if he won the first 2 rounds their was no way it was by that big of a margin.

well if you think olympics boxing is fixed, then dont watch proper boxing, as thats even more fixed.

Any sports which has don king (which has confessed he's bribed officials) and hasn't recieved a ban, is jus clueless
am sure he came out saying alot of m.ali matches were fixed

Against my good judgement, I watched the first boxing final. It was light fly weight with China vs Thailand. Daylight robbery would be an understatement. Of course China won.
Decided to stop but watched the super heavyweight final (Dono why!). Britain vs Italy and the result is anyone's guess.
Frankly it is time they ban boxing from Olympics.

yeah, they should restructure the scoring system or ban boxing from olympics!

In this olympics, judges have been very biased towards the brits
