No Medal for Pakistan unless Sohail Abbas's Team surprise us with their performance and win a medal.

I heard a while ago that Amir Khan's brother was trying to represent Pakistan in the boxing, did that ever happen?

He represented Pakistan in the last Commonwealth Games. Got a bronze.

Not sure if he's going to be able to compete in summer though.

No Pakistani boxers at all in the Olympics:

http://tribune.com.pk/story/383181/p...on-the-canvas/

KARACHI:
After the agony of missing out on a place in the London Olympics, Pakistan boxers are now suffering due to the ongoing tussle between the federation’s president and secretary as a training camp faces delay.

The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) had planned the camp for the first week of May, following the 34th National Boxing Championship, but those plans are in total disarray after the clash between Doda Khan and Akram Khan, with the pair due to settle a score in the general body meeting next month.

Both senior officials have laid serious corruption charges against each other following Pakistan’s failure to seal a place in the 2012 Olympics.

“The federation had shortlisted 15 boxers but things are at a standstill due to the fight,” a senior PBF official told The Express Tribune.

Doda claimed that the secretary took bribes to include undeserving pugilists in the national squad while Akram has blamed the president of misappropriating funds. The official also added that the PBF officials have not been paid for three months.

As of 13th May 2012, only 17 participants have been confirmed from Pakistan to take part in London Olympics. 16 member Hockey team and 1 wild card entry to Men's skeet.

There could be some places in Boxing allocated to Pakistan on wild card entries too.

For India - Shooting is the best bet for gold medal. Bindra won a Gold last time around. Perhaps a wrestler or boxer can also win a medal. Hockey team has been poor for ages , so there is no hope there.

India's medal hopes are mainly in the following games (Not in any order)
  1. Shooting
  2. Archery
  3. Boxing
  4. Badminton
  5. Tennis
  6. Weightlifting
  7. Wrestling
  8. Hockey(very very low)
Analysts are predicting about 5 medals with 2 golds.
Surprised to see Pakistan having no prospects other than hockey. Expected them to have more contenders

Saina should win at least Bronze minimum. High hopes for her. For Gold, she has to play out of her skin. I hopes she wins.

India can also win in Tennis doubles. Badminton doubles is also a possibility. Hockey is very tough, they played well against Dutch though.

Both of these countries are very disappointing in the olympics. Pakistan can't even support anyone to go out there and India doesn't even produce any Atheltic athletes, only the non-athletic sports. Out of such big population, these countries only manage a couple of gold medals, such a shame. Maybe if cricket was a part of olympics...

They needed to win the final set 21-13, they were leading it 10-1 at a stage, and then Jwala screwed it big time. Punappa played awesome though.

Mary Kom has a tough opponent in SF though, anyway she is our only real hope for any chance at 'gold' this olympics.

Hope she does get through. Anyhow isn't this the first time we've got more than 3 medals in Olympics?

One thing that goes in favor of Mary Kom is that she hasn't lost twice to the same opponent. Nicola Adams defeated her few months back 13-11. So guess this is time for payback.
