Pakistan pace attack

Serious issues here.

Junaid is promising tbut o young to win games on his own. Less said about Sami and Gul the better. Tanvir, Cheema, Sohail will not scare opposition. Rest are all untried.

Seems like the tour to South Africa wil be one long safari.

Guys we can go round and round this subject but the fact remains unless we unearth and coach some pace bowlers we are going to struggle. The appointment of a specialist coach is vital more than ever now. What is happening with that?

sohail tanvir and cheema can be good as they have the ability to swing the ball. sphail tanvir can trouble graeme smith as well as cheema. but sohail khan sami and gul and riaz shudnt be playing on swinging conditions. gul and sami are brain fart

Pakistan pace attack are missing that "X-Factor" bowler...

Previously...Asif, Amir, Shoaib, Waqar, Wasim, Waqar

Gul is too hit and miss in tests, Sami well is Sami and Junaid is too early in his career to make an impact..

The reserves are not too promising either...

Sohail Tanvir - Does not have the ability, skill and stamina for tests
Tanvir Ahmed - Wrongfully dropped but, again untested
Mohammad Talha - Untested
Aizaz Cheema - Too old but, a genuine trier but, unlikely to give any team sleepless nights

Question is...with a tough South Africa tour looming, and pace being vital...Pakistan are looking threadbare at the moment..

sohail tanvir can trouble the southafricans, as we saw that welegedra also got southafrica out. the important thing is that sohail tanvir unlike sami and gul has the ability to move the new ball on constant basis and has patience

Junaid is an exciting find. Gul is off color due to injury etc. He was tad unlucky today as well.

And Sami is Sami.

We have won series after series with both pace and spin bowling, so ppl need to take a chill pill.

these fast bowlers represent the first class teams and they're not allowing others to come through. So when one doesn't perform, they select the other one and vice versa

we have won series after series only because of ajmal and rehman and junaid as well. when was the last time gul won us a test series. if gul was a good bowler he wudnt be averaging above 33 in tests. as i said before gul lacks, patience, brains and mental strength, and this has been proven over and over again. remember the first test against west indies. gul and riaz cudnt find any movement and on the same wicket rampaul, roach and sammy made us ducks. we only one the next test match due to rehman and ajmal.

We only won the England and WI series because of spinners. All others were won by either predominantly pace or by a combo. Even in the England series, Gul took wickets. Sure, he is an average bowler, but every team has one. Our pace attack will sort itself out over the next couple of years. Junaid has already happened, and another one will soon too.

Our bowling attack is still better than SA if SA all of a sudden lose Steyn and Morkel.

Because we lost Amir and Asif suddenly. Because this argument is about bench strength. Too hard to understand?

Actually makes sense. jan 2013 is a long way away, injuries can happen and bowlers can suddenly succumb to injury. spin against Saf is as important as Pace and pak really need a strong bench that can be persevered with over the coming months in preparation.

Umar Gul and Sami are not test class , one averaging in 50s and the other close to 35. Pakistan need to give chances to the bowlers like sadaf hussain , nasrullah khan , talha , asad ali etc who can bowl well the new ball. Sadaf hussain has been very unlucky to not have been give any chance.

Optimism...yes i do understand...We have no evidence that even if they both suddenly are eaten by this earth Gul and co are better than philander and co..how do you see that we have better bench strength ??

I understand your point that traditionally Pakistan had as good bowlers as South africa ...but it is about present not past..May be in future we may find better ones but it is about present..

Do you have any names to offer here beyond Philander?

Tsotsobe? SA's Sami for test cricket.
Parnell? The less said, the better.
A Morkel?

So, let's hear what SA's bench strength is relative to other teams.

we should have played tanvir ahmed in this series..he would have got rid of their openers especially crappyvitana!!

great with the new ball and we have gul and junaid with the old ball..sami is a waster..not even club standard!

is 22 . That is the perfect age , the best Pakistani fast bowlers started young . I think started at 17 or 18 . JK needs to bulk up a bit .

still every thing on this earth is better than Sami.....still early days for Tsotsobe..

Parnell and A Morkel are not even in the squad

De lange looks well too..

It is not about England or Australia...We do not have a better bench strength as well currently..do not take wilted cheema or Tanvir as your bench strenth..

and i said it is about present...we must be objective and specific in our posts...they have better at the moment ....thats it....though i wish along with you that we will re emerge soon...

Same old problem, the decisions are not made on merit. If you see ranking of bowlers as per PCB it will be clear that they are not selecting the ones who deserved.
