all of afghanistan was in progress around the time of dauod khan

very stable government

pity that whenever anybody pulls out,a civil war occurs

pretty sure when the americans pull out it will be made certain of happening again.

Those women look like 70's Bollywood women from Raj Kapoor's film.

How things have changed in 30yrs. I wonder what some of those people in the pics who are still alive must be thinking??

Black & White pics are 70 to 80 years old and colored ones before Soviet invasion.

A country which I genuinely wish it does well. Have met a few Afghanistanis in my real life..and I can see the pain they have when they speak about their country. Americans, the taliban and organizations with vested interests have royally screwed the country over..

Great pics.

nice pics, just proves the point, if you just leave people alone to get on with things they prosper, rather than invading them and bombing them to the stone age..

remember the taliban are a symptom of years of brutalitiy..

one reservation and caveat, the above pictures are of the cities what was life like in the dihat? considering the resistance actually rose from the countryside while many rich city folk just packed their bags and left.

.
If only it were so simple.

What's the excuse when it comes to India, Pakistan and Bangladesh then? No invasions, no occupation yet for the majority of it's citizens life has not 'prospered' at all over the past few decades.

my parents are from ghazni ( is not a big city and mostly dehat) i went there in 1997 when the talibs were in power and then again i went in 2008. Things had improved so much since then. Unfortunately there is still the talib influence but they don't harrase people like they used to when they were in full power. as for development, things have definitely improved.

Hopefully, the ongoing war and the Talibanisation will end.

A peaceful Afghanistan is a must for Asia.

Hoping things improve in the Middle East as well.

what is it like 80% of Afghan GDP is due to NATO spending.. There is no chance of stability once they pull out. I can understand our ISI meddling which albeit is wrong atleast provided a buffer.
