What do you make up of Trott coming in before Prior/bell/Taylor?

This is a 40 over chase not a t20, Pietersen was the pinch hitter. Cook, Strauss and Trott to try and set up, and then if they have wickets in hand for a late Swoosh from the rest. Very unlikely but still possible.

Erm! That really looked on line with off stump. With slomo you will realize that. I don't care about half ball out side the line and half ball inside. If it's online with Off stump it should be out.

Fair enough! Let's see how they approach it when things get close.

A blunder is when the umpire misses and inside edge on an lbw, a thick edge to the keeper or gives a man out when the ball is passing a foot over the stumps. That was a marginal marginal call and probably wouldnt have been given out before DRS.

Blunder is also when ball is straight in line to off stump and crashing on to middle-leg. Batsman completely missing it.

Had Prior coming in 3 and he came off good they could have seriously troubled SA's mindset. Just my opinion. Most in form batsmen in England side.

With four down and England's dependable Prior already gone, it makes it so much more difficult to set up the chase for the last 10. Probably chase over for England unless something silly happens. Can South Africa find another wicket or two...still time for them...

England have tried all they could , had pieterson stayed for another 10 overs , it would have been a different story.

Unless SA get two wickets in 3-5 overs this is a draw.

So South Africa can come steaming in again for a few more overs, two quick wickets suddenly puts the cat right among the pigeons...

And this is why the idea for a sixth day or extra time on the last day is horrible.

England can be proud of this test. They could have conceivably won given two sessions and the ability to play normally. Lets wn Lords and set things aright.

Broad managed to run through SA. Hmm. Given 50-60 overs it would have been a.scoreable taarget. Perhaps if there wasnt rain. Prior was good first innings. Other than your Peterson what was there to be proud about for SA. England was average but that was better than last test and they looked
marginally better than SA in the final equation.

Not so sure about Broad running through SA. SA may not have went on the attack had those sessions not been lost to rain. Immediately after lunch they came out an attacked, probably to try and force a result. But Broad did bowl a lot better in this match.

i watched that play..
ab was given out wrongly
most of other guys did not cared
see the way wickets fell..if they were serious broad would not have gotten so many wickets
think of it this way
smith is in gr8 form os is petersen.. rudolph made 50 here now got out to kp both the times so again main bowlers were not able to get him..amla is in good form i think we all agree on it got out in strange ways in both innings
kallis , ab both got osme runs
now compare to england other then kp and maybe prior who else is there to fight ?

Smith did well. The idea was not necessarily to win the test in the last session, but to not let England batsmen wrap it up with a sense of accomplishment. KP, for example, will start the third test with his last score being 12 and not 149. Same with Strauss and Prior. Cook hasn't really fired much either.
