Mohammed Asif to Act in Malayalam Movie

Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Asif will act in Malayalam film. Mohammed Asif will make his film debut with a Malayalam film, directed by renowned lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri.

Shooting of the movie, titled ‘Mazhavillinnattamvare’ (till the tip of the rainbow) is scheduled to begin in North Kerala in September. The movie is also the directorial debut of Kaithapram, who has penned hundreds of songs, winning several national and state awards.

‘Asif is now busy playing cricket in England. He will be free by September to begin shooting in Kannur in north Kerala,’ Kaithapram told PTI.

‘The film starts with Asif coming to a cricket camp in Kannur as a coach. When he travels from Lahore to Kerala, he has a personal mission too. The film will progress through his journey to his goal’, Kaithapram said.

Besides direction, the story is also by Kaithpram, who will be doing the script and lyrics as well.

There would be five songs and a ghazal, mixing of which will be done in a theatre in London. The songs would be rendered by top Indian singers like K J Yesudas, Udit Narayan, Sankar Mahadevan, K S Chitra, Deepankuran and Shreya Ghoshal.

The film is being produced by a Sharjah-based entrepreneur M Mukundan, who hails from Kannur, under the banner of ‘Valluvankadavu Recreations’.

Interesting.

Never watched a Malayalam movie but it seems Malayalam movies are really quality and not like other south indian (tolly, lollywood) type.

Most of their movies win national award and got nice scripts (which later gets copied to other languages).

I am impressed that some Pakistani forummers have got the Mallu accent exactly right.

Asif should watch out.

Old, old Mallu 'jokes:

What do you call?

A smart Malayalee? - Debo-nair
A dynamic Malayalee? - Pheno-Menon
A Malayalee drunkard? - Kutty Sark
A very rich Malayalee? - MillionIyer

Why do they require 5 people for a Malayalee funeral?
-Four to carry the coffin, one to carry the two-in-one.

Why does a Malayalee go to a temple?
- Zimply to Bray.

And:

One Mallu is a coconut stall.
Two Mallus is a boat race.
Three Mallus is a Gulf job racket.
Four Mallus is an oil slick.

Mallus and 2 in 1s? Used to be a 'great' combo in the 80s.

Mallus would go to the 'Gelf' and first thing they would get back would be a huuuuuge music player.

Speaking of 2 in 1s, this happened to a Mallu friend of mine - he swore it was a true story.

His family were relaxing on the roof in their house one Sunday afternoon when they saw a guy in their garden with a 2 in 1 player on his shoulder.

From atop they called down to ask him what he wanted. He looked up, startled, then asked them if they wanted to buy the 2 in 1.

They told him no, they had one already. So he went off.

Half an hour later they realized the guy they spoke to was actually robbing their 2 in 1 at the time they spoke to him.

Very impressive. I think the secret of youth is the moustache, Alliya (I believe all Mallayalam and Tamil film heroes have it, and they are all younger and fitter than their ages would suggest).

That's why I firmly believe that a moustache is essential for all men. Mohammad Asif is sadly without one. He is a weaker man for that deficiency.

Yeah I agree Alliya the Moustache add a bit of tinge to the looks as well as personality although I would never grow one on its own .... A lot of it is his lifestyle as well; he watches what he eats, doesnt drink alcohol pure Muslim in and out for the alcohol bit .. The man has 2 grand kids apparently lol.....

^^ There are a specific group of people called Palakkad Iyers whose mother tongue is Tamil but the place where they reside (the Palakkad district) is in current Kerala. As a result they have a typical dialect which you cannot correctly classify as Tamil/Malayalam. It is somewhere in between

Bad news for Asif:

Quote:
Mired in a match-fixing controversy, tainted Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Asif who was to debut in a Malayalam film has now been dropped from the movie, according to its director Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri.

Namboothiri told mediapersons on Tuesday that now he just can’t go ahead with the project with Asif.

“He has to be changed because now I do not want to go ahead with him,” said Namboothiri who is making his debut as a director in the film Mazhavillin Attamvare in which the lead character is a Pakistani cricketer who arrives as a bowling coach at a cricket academy in Kerala, searching for his roots.
But there is still hope for someone:

Quote:
“I will try some other Pakistani cricketer and, if not, I will seek a Pakistani film actor to do the central role in my film, for which shooting starts in the second week of October,” he added.
