Aussies in need of bowling coach....

Aussies in need of bowling coach, says Pakistani great

Former Pakistan cricket captain Waqar Younis says the Australia Test team will struggle in the future unless they employ a specialist fast bowling coach.

Calls for the recruitment of both bowling and batting coaches have intensified since Australia lost the Ashes series to England 2-1.

Both Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie have urged Cricket Australia to follow the lead of England, who have employed former Tasmanian fast bowler Troy Cooley as their bowling coach for the past two years.

Waqar, who took 373 wickets in 87 Tests and now resides in Sydney, said Australia had to go down the same road if it wanted to ensure the future development of young fast bowlers.

"Definitely Australians are going to struggle, by looking at what they've done in the Ashes, after Glenn McGrath goes," he said.

"The Australian board have got to think very quickly and very hard if they can bring some of their old fast bowlers to come and coach the youngsters, because I see a lot of problems in the youngsters."

Waqar, regarded as one of the greatest ever exponents of reverse swing, said Australian bowlers needed to learn how to use such a delivery.

He said Brett Lee was the only Australian bowler who was currently able to use reverse swing.

"I think Brett Lee is probably one of the guys who can learn a bit more," he said. "He's doing well, but there's something missing I still think."

Even though he said bring back some of their old fast bowlers to come and coach but I think deep down he is saying pick me, I am available.

well he was perfectly willing to be our bowling coach but Salim Altaf said no. Unlike Wasim who isn't even willing.

I say 'go for it waqar'. If they offer him the job that is.

PCB should be proactive in taking the services of ex-paksitani players otherwise they will go to places where they are offered more lucrative assignments .
