Muhammed Amir (now LF): What a beast with the ball in hand!
Mashallah, amazing amazing bowler. I am absolutely in awe!
18 years of age and he is already reminding us of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis at their peaks. Brilliant stuff from the lad and bowling with good pace as well.. Here is to him and his health and fitness and a long long career. Shabaash jawan! Cheeta laga ain! :aamir

I would not mind chasing 175.. I think we will still have a chance.. Hopefully Kami can play a career saving knock.. lol
Aamer should really get the ICC award for the most promising young cricketer.. He has been phenomenal.

What an attitude in the field and bowls like a pro. I don't think I have seen any teen (in cricket) who has such a mature mind. This guy is just awesome. |

As someone posted on the commentary thread, quoting someone on an Indian forum, he is Pakistan's RP Singh. Personally I don't think he's there yet, and probably never will get there, but that just pretty much sums it up.

I have tears of joy in my eyes.
Seems like only yesterday when my little angel was about a foot and a half tall, picking up a ping pong ball in his left hand, rubbing it off against his kachha, taking that adorable little run up to bowl an 80mph delivery at random aunties in the bazaars of Gujar Khan. ![]() And look at him now.. all grown up.. terrorizing batsmen all over the world. My boy :aamir

What a talent what a player hes going to be, great for world cricket were all tired of batsmen piling on runs nice to see a young talented bowler coming onto the scene and even better he plays for us any other team would have this guy doing work in county cricket for 5 years wasting his talent, we just need to be careful no burn out!

Do all that you guys can do keep him away from the sh*t hole called IPL. Don't let him get anywhere near to that tamasha.
And yes, his workload also needs to be managed. The lad is 18 and is going to be around for a decade and a half. What a bowler. |

That becomes a little challenging with Wasim Akram coaching an IPL team. He had already tried getting Amir for Knight Riders in the last IPL but politics between the two countries prevented Pak players to play in IPL (thank God!). I hope whenever IPL is on, either the two govts are on loggerheads or we have some other national tour and players can't get out of it.

I think fast bowlers are really born.. seldom made.. A comparison of Sami and Aamer's career is a damning indictment of that.. This kid just walks in at 17, grabs the bull by the horns and before you know it, he is leading the attack of a test nation famous for having a history of the best fast bowlers in the world.. on the other hand we had Sami, who was given chance after chance after chance, coached, over coached and then given some more chances.. But failed to make an impression. Of course you could argue that bowlers like Aamer are probably not born every day but i think just the fact that now we have him, issues a stern notice to selectors that you cannot never discount natural talent. BE ON THE LOOKOUT.. dont settle for mediiocrity in the team or wait for false potential to pay off.. We made such mistakes with Sami and Kaneria and may continue to do it with Kamran and Farhat. Cricket is not dead in Pakistan. we have to look in the right places. Well done to Ajmal and Aamer.. I am now a reborn fan of this team.

What a find for Pakistan. The way he runs up and the smoothness of his action sometimes can look like he is not putting in his best effort, but today it showed how he varies his action and effort depending on what is required.
When there was swing at trent bridge, he bowled at around 85mph. Today when it was reversing, he had to bowl quicker and was bowling between 88-90 mph and you could see the extra effort when he really let his arm go before releasing the ball. He showed this before at Sydney v Aus. He is still young and it showed when he went a bit too wide around the wicket but when he got it right, it was a beauty to get rid of Prior. It seems he is also a down to earth lad. He went to a school called Daryala, the same one as my old man, I have played a game there a few years ago in a local village tournament. I heard he came down a while back in his new car too hang out with his old schoolmates. Let's hope he stays fit because what a player to lead our attack for the next 15 years. |

A good find for Pakistan and he is a very good bowler. Too early in his career and as long he will stay away from team politics and maintain his fitness, I am sure he would do just fine.

Superb talent and a quality bowler - he is getting better and better, which is a scary thought since he is still a baby
That spell after tea was just something else - he was supported brilliantly by Ajmal BUT watching him steam in around the wicket was Akram-like and the wicket of Prior's was superb - his dismissal against Johnson earlier in the summer was a gem BUT this surpasses it imo BUT we need to make sure we dont ruin his career before its started - he is only young yet he has already played a lot of cricket - after the test matches he should be rested from the T20's/ODI's, would rest him for the 4th Test if we fail to win this match |

Awesome stuff and good that he has Waqar looking after him.
I think Saturdays Telegraph report suggests it was Waqar who got him to go round the wicket when the reverse swing was kicking in and it was noticeable he cranked the pace up to hit 90mph+ on a regular basis. |

That final session of bowling pleased me on many fronts.
1. Was great to see quality pace and beguiling spin in tandem after a long time. Really brought back memories of many spells by Waqar/Mushtaq, Wasim/Saqlain, Shoaib/Saqlain. Brilliant stuff and long may it continue 2. If anyone has read my posts on fast bowling, knows that I love watching pace bowling and in a way have no time for medium pace trundlers (I'll accept bowlers like Asif doing their job but it doesn't really excite me - moreover, don't like genuine pace bowlers slowing down for accuracy etc. However, this tour, I have accepted that Amir has done a great job cutting down the pace and going for conventional movement, simply because conditions up to now have been ideal for it. I wanted to see was how Amir would respond when the pitch wasn't doing much, and there wasn't conventional swing and seam available. What I really wanted to see was whether he could crank it a notch speedwise - esp when the ball was reversing. He didn't disappoint! Inshallah he stays injury free and keeps his feet on the ground because needless to say he is the key bowler for us for at least the next decade.

Aamir's bowling is getting good series by series . Indeed the kid has got talent but the work-load he's getting is eye-watering , deserves a healthy rest .
The series with South Africa is being held in the UAE , where is Asif banned . So that means more work-load for the teen .
