Breaking News: Series in Pakistan likely to be in October

http://tribune.com.pk/story/41874/se...be-in-october/

KARACHI: Pakistan may play a series at home in October against either Zimbabwe or New Zealand after both countries offered to send their teams, said a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official. Cricket boards from both countries have offered to help raise funds for an estimated 20 million people affected by the worst flood in Pakistan’s history and have therefore offered to send their teams, although final arrangements are yet to be made.
A PCB official said that the board is taking the offers seriously and wants to host the series as soon as possible.

“The series against New Zealand or Zimbabwe would be a huge breakthrough for the country’s cricket and the board is making efforts to arrange it,” the official told The Express Tribune while adding that the series is likely to be held before next year’s World Cup in October.

“Pakistan’s UAE tour will start in the last week of October before which a series against New Zealand or Zimbabwe may be hosted,” added the official.
Pakistan lost status as co-hosts of next year’s World Cup following an attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore last year in March and since then the country has faced a drought of international action. The reluctance of foreign teams to visit the country has also forced Pakistan to play its home series abroad besides being overlooked as host of major ICC events till 2015.

“It would be a great cause as cricket can gather millions for the affected people and at the same time international cricket can resume in Pakistan,” said the official.

I'm not sure if it'll benefit us if we played zimbabwe just before the world cup. It wouldnt provide competitive cricket and some players could get injured. They should rest and during the weeks before the world cup.

Would a series be viable?

I would go with one match [get them in and out quickly].

It would prove we are safer then before and less time would be spent on security for them. Why not play a tri-series, if they are going to go down that route? Or will they break it down into two mini series?

I am still shocked NZ is willing.

they should have a quick, 10 day tri series with New Zealand and Zimbabwe.....then either have a separate tour for nz to come back for the tests or have the tests at a neutral venue

I don't think tests would be possible for a really long time.

Shorter formats are plausible and reasonable.

I wouldn't be surprised if NZ said they would play a one off match on neutral venue, and Butt, being the idiot that he is, assumed that NZ wanted to play in Pakistan.

I honestly cannot see NZ going to Pakistan.

That is why he is such a genius.

He takes his last name quite seriously. He even talks out of his last name.

yea that was really surprising, especially since they were also in pakistan when the bomb went off at the hotel like 10 years ago and they ended up leaving mid match

feel sorry for newzealanders. last time they came, bomb exploded nearby and they are still willing to come after SL team attack?? why are they taking this risk when certainly they are in danger??. but its good for pak cricket if they can come and play safely.

Now lets confirm that even Zimbabwe's message wasn't misinterpreted. We need a translator to avoid any such confusion in the future

New Zealand deny offer to play in Pakistan. The Pakistan's media manager or someone who had the opportunity to read the message had misunderstood the message.

This is terrible on Pakistani's part, they can not even read and translate offical emails??? PCB needs to find qualified people to work for the board.

i think it is stupid idea to play in Pakistan, specially agains Zimbabwe. if they want to make money for flood victims, it is stupid idea to play in Pakistan. hardly any one will come to watch pak vs zim. second the amount of money they are going to make, they will spend way more then money on security. and third it's very risky and that too taking for team like Zimbabwe. so it's very loose loose loose situation for PCB.
