Rana's batting

i've heard so much from people on this forum that rana supposedly can bat..

but i never got the opportunity to actually follow a match where he showed his stuff

but his good knock of 20 off 18 balls has given me hope that he is indeed a relatively good tailender like gillespie

I do class Rana as u know what lol. To be fair he went in there under pressure against Lee and McGrath and he stuck in there and stayed to the end. Sadly he is there for his bowling and I dont think his bowling is anything to write home about. Still all credit to him for his role at the end.

Irfan is a bowler who bats a bit. Rana is neither a good bowler or batter.

Rana is just a handy asset down the bottom of the order like Sami or Akter who can bat a bit. Rana is a mainstream bowler not an allrounder.

well I dont know why they called him up. Can anyone justify it to me? Who said before this series it was a good pick?
Rana aint good enough as an out and out bowler in my book.

Even before yesterday, I had this wish that Sami never comes back and Rana takes his place. He thinks while he bowls; Sami is just an idiot who keeps coming to you and bowls like a robot.

Gary, don't you think Rana has pace? Plus, he really does outthink the batsmen many times in the later stages of the innings. Sami just doesn't think at all while bowling. He has been around for 2 God damn years now, I thought he would have something to show for that by now.

Rana is quick enough but Sami is seriously quick and Rana doesnt have the accuracy of an Umar or a Shabbir.

It isnt a bad thing. We now have 5 quickes of good quality (say what you will about *****, hes still a quality bowler). OK, we only have space for 3, but with injuries, will all of them every be fit at the same time?

Rana is better than what people give him credit for. He bowls at a decent pace (we only think hes slow cause we're used to guys bowling at over 150). Hes the best exponent of reverse swing in the team ATM, has a decent slower ball, can move the new ball and is always thinking. Not only that but hes very commited. Not a bad sort of player to have

He's no mug with the bat and his domestic stats aren't too bad. I've seen him bat at 4 at times.

One thing I must say about Rana is, he may not be the most gifted cricketer, but he is a superb team man and always gives 100%

Saj, domestic stats count for nothing in any country with the exception of Australia. Its mental attributes u need and Rana is pretty good on that score. Mind u is he really 26? Saj, plz plz plz get back to me on mail!

I think Rana is a complete bowler. He can reverse sweing, bowl decent pace (touches 140 K every now and then but averages about a 135k), has a good bouncer and shorter one. Also has a good slower ball and his primary weapon is the outswinger. He always keeps coming back at you and is always in a hunt for a whicket even though he goes for a few but then so did Waqar in his days. 5 years ago Rana would never have been anywhere close to the team but given our present bowling resources (beggars cant be choosers) so Rana is one of our better options.
Gary you think TK should replace Rana?

TK would not be my 1st choice but I would take him over Rana. The guys always been better than Azhar and deserves a shot at the big time. If Hafeez and Moin and Junaid can play for Pak, TK can be as good as Razzler. Would make a great captain as all players respect him from his time as A captain. Funnily it was Rana who personally introduced TK to Bob.

No.

Rana is a much better batsman and bowler as a whole and easily can be called a bowling all-rounder.

Respect him, he took an amazing catch in the Sri Lanka series. What determination. What passion. What a man. :naved

How about no?

But jokes apart, I rated Rana as a worthless cricketer when he first came onto the scene. Was a joke bowler often serving hot delicious apple pies for the batsmen and couldn't last too long at the crease with the bat as well.

Superb cricketer now though. He's a great team man, always gives his 110% and always puts in full effort in his cricket. Great bowler and a very good batsman to have in your team.
