Sri Lanka struggling on the flat track. Also missing Jayasuriya's bowling.

I reckon India will have in excess of 300 on the board which would mean that Jayasuriya will need to be at his murderous best.

25.2 Chandana to Tendulkar, SIX, this is now officially a murder field
- tossed up outside the off stump, Tendulkar dances down the
track, get to the pitch of the delivery and heaves it away miles
over the long-on fence

The Sri Lankan spinners usually are good at strangulation and slowing down the scoring rate. Looks like they are being strangled in this match.

Highest odi score on cards!

Pathan and Tendulker depart in successive overs. maybe 350 on cards now rather than 400.

oh well!

Sachin I feel deliberately departed as had a terrible cramp and was seen limping .He never belives in having a runner and so not to delay the momentum I feel he deliberately threw his wicket playing a careless shot .Hope he recovers quickly and be in the same form for the entire series .

Good comeback from sachin 93 from 96 balls.

also good innovation to send pathan in as a pinch hitter.

It will be tough but i doubt Jayasuriya is going to hold back. I sense hes going to try and turn the clock back to 1996.

In the meanwhile, Hariharan continues his good form....

0.5 Pathan to Jayasuriya, no run, pitched on middle and leg, Jayasuriya goes for a big heave over midwicket, is rapped on the pads and is plumb, but Hariharan is unmoved, very very lucky to be still there

Good to see Dravid using his head - not utilizing the powerplay, and bringing on Harbhajan and Sehwag to slow the tide - it certainly did pay off. Ganguly would have just been standing there biting his nails.

Terrefic performance by India and nice to see Tendulkar hit the spot immediately.

Sterner tests await India in the series and chasing would be one of them, something where the team has been distinctly below par recently. Good innovative thinking to send Pathan up the order and kudos to him for delivering. Dravid was outstanding with the bat and on the field. The bowling had a sense of purpose to it.

The challenge would be for the team to perform at this level over the upcoming 12 ODIs and only then can a statement about a definite improvement be made, or this performance might turn out to be a fluke.

Good job by India. They have batted superbly and Sachin and Pathan did a great job for them. What i like the most about this game was Dravid's fast 85 runs. He showed and proved those wrong who always termed Dravid as a typical test or slow batter. India deserves this win.
