Alleged Racist English Media!!!
Personally i'm sick and tired of the englsh media....they are disgusting!!!
They are portraying Pakistan as some sort of war torn, barbaric country. Whereas all the players and most ex-players are talking in a positive manner, by saying things like we are a 'cricket enthusiastic country'. This morning Sky News had Alex Tudor in the studio, and the presenter asked him, do players have to carry their own bags? and what surprises did u find in ure hotel room? I mean what sort of stupid questions are they? Hasn't anyone told them our own coach is an Englishman, who has had NO problems living in Pakistan. I was glad Alex shut him up by saying, 'no, they will all be queing to carry ure bag, and hotels are the best u can get' Just now the BBC have asked Phil Tuffnell how players shud spend the evening, and Tufnell said: 'Play a bit of poker! That's what we did when we were stuck in the middle of nowhere' I mean how racist is that? Is Pakistan on a different planet? These ppl are SO ignorant its unbeleivable!!! Plz don't get me wrong, i'm not one of those ppl who blame everything that goes against us on racism, this is a genuine case for racial discrimination!!! I really do hope we beat England in the Test Matches, so that the English Media can come back down to earth. |

Pakistan is the best place to live. People are nice, hotels are great and the food is excellent. Bazaars are buzzing and open till late unlike here.

I bet u none of this crap will come out when England plan to go to India next year. HELLO!!! Pakistan is MORE developed than India, there is less poverty, if only they opened their eyes. The reality is England are too chicken to explore the bazaars and shops that Buzz all nite. |

well,i am afraid what the players have said is true to a extent. They cant freely roam like they did in India. Bu, making smarmy comemnt is bit of a joke.
They are being state visit style security. They are not safe considering UK are at war still.

if you go to a country and embace their way of life you will get love from the people of that country but if you lock yourself up in the hotel room playing your xbox/playstation because your afraid al-quada gonna blow you to bits then what do you expect?
I agree pakistan is much more beutiful and developed than india if the english cricketers go and visits all the tourists sites and interact with the normal people on the street they will be treated like kings.

Personally i think this all down to no drinking in pakistan. If drinking was allowed, Pakistan would be portrayed the same as india, western people find it hard to stay in a society where you cant drink and go clubbing.

well you have to remember enjoyment is an individual thing.
What sort of stuff 'fulfils' people like Flintoff, most journalists and English fans? They expect a tour to be full of booze and sex!! They want and expect to get plastered/legless every night and then cop off with some star struck local bird. In the Windies, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and nowadays even in India this is exactly what they get! It's 'their culture' and 'their identity' In fact it's the same reasons that many Pakistani cricketers love going on tours abroad themselves, they enjoy getting drunk and sleeping around! Pakistan is somewhere where you cant easily or readily get drunk in public or even in the stadium itself. Also its not as easy or simple to leer at the local girls and lure them to your hotel room. Whilst neither of these things are impossible in Pakistan they are not as straightforward and easy as they are in the (supposedly) more 'civilised' world!! Thats why tours to Pakistan are considered to be in the middle of nowhere!! Also lets not forget the language barrier, English is still not as widely spoken in Pakistan as it is in the rest of the 'recognised' cricketing countries even Sri Lanka and India have a large English speaking populace compared to Pakistan. Pakistan is probably the only 'foreign tour' which is truly 'foreign' in nature and the wussies dont like it because it scares the sh!te out of them and they confine themselves to their hotels and therefore come back without seeing, knowing or learning a thing about Pakistan proper! |

Darren Gough has never been a wallflower. He was one of the very few shining lights for England during the 1990s and always carried that enthusiasm off the pitch with him.
And no one was more thrilled seeing the current England side break their 16-year barren run of Ashes defeats then the Barnsley-born fast bowler. Michael Vaughan's men now embark on a tour to Pakistan, a country Gough knows plenty about. The 35-year-old Essex player was part of the last touring party to Pakistan in 2000-2001, who came away victorious partly thanks to a good performance with the ball by Gough in the final Test. Gough picked up six wickets to help England to a six-wicket win in Karachi and a 1-0 series victory. In the light of the recent earthquake, the England team should get the chance to play their part in the relief effort as well as play cricket in the next couple of months. Tours to countries in the subcontinent are often approached with trepidation by first-timers. But based on his experiences, Gough believes the players will find ways of enjoying the trip. Speaking before the October earthquake, Gough told BBC Sport: "The tour to Pakistan is definitely not as bad as some people make out. "There are lovely hotels, great food in their restaurants and there's lots of things to do. "The boys will be playing their computer games and watching DVDs. And if they go to the High Commission then they'll find a bar there and that will keep Freddie happy." According to Gough, the entertainment will be in plentiful supply to ensure the England party never suffer from boredom. "It's a lot of fun and the team will get even closer as a unit. There are a lot of games provided. Things like Question of Sport on a video conference and horse-racing games. "It's a great laugh. The horse-racing game is particularly good fun, because there's a bookie involved. "The bookie always wins and I used to do that role because they always come out the richest. I expect Freddie will do it this time." Looking ahead to events on the field, the former Yorkshire star is adamant England should not encounter many difficulties and believes the fast bowlers will enjoy plying their trade on Pakistan's pitches. "In the last tour, Craig White and myself used reverse swing ever so well, spinner Ashley Giles also got 18 wickets in three Tests and we won. "Our bowlers won't have to try to bowl reverse swing, they just naturally do it. "Flintoff can do it, and so can Matthew Hoggard. "I think our bowlers will bowl them out because Pakistan's batting line-up isn't all that great. "I think the big question may be how we play their bowlers, because they've got a decent attack." If Gough enjoyed pakistan, I dont see why any other england player cant. Its good to see that he had nothing bad to say about Pakistan. |

I don't know why everyone is so shocked about the pommie media, pundits and some player statements. All this arrogant, thinking they are superior, ignorant, whinging, moaning etc has been going on since time. I have seen the English like this since I first started watching cricket seriously back in 1987. They are not worth getting wound up aboput but best to reply back where u can to them.

They have an excuse for everything and disrespect all teams but specially think they can walk all over subcontinetal teams and there country. They are the worst losers and the worst 'winners' around and I can list u endless number of pommie media etc excuses such as they lost to India in India in 1993 cause they had the runs i.e fat hat and the squad had diaorrhea because of teh food.

they were talking on bbc new yesterday saying that pakistan is the last place you would want to go to because there is nothing to do. Every channel you watch they just say we have a dangerours player, his name is shoaib akhtar but if they have been waching our series recently they will know that is wrong and someone called rana has been the one to watch!!! All these cricket analysists or what ever you call them have no knowledge what so ever!!!

Well I for one will certainly not spend my two weeks in Pakistan holed up in some hotel. I'll be out and about and as I hardly drink anyway this aspect won't bother me unduly.I've been assured several times by Pakistanis on this forum and Barmy Army forum not to believe the negative view of Pakistan as portrayed in UK media so I hope everyone is right! I'm coming with an open mind. Don't be too disappointed when we win the test series though guys!!

To be fair I havent been to Karachi for a while...about 10 yrs now because of direct flights to Lahore - which has a nice terminal now. Which opened 2 yrs ago. But Lahore hasnt changed much over that period. I went christmas 2001 too.

It doesn't matter about the underground system.....you should see Bangkok's underground system. It puts the London Underground to absolute shame. A million times better. Underground systems are not that difficult to build normally....Karachi was going to have one but a feasibility study found the ground to be too soft. I think they are making an elevated railway there instead. India has some strong economic growth over the last few years (as Pakistan is having now as well) but like other developing countries the wealth is not being shared evenly. The rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer.

pakistanis are individually risher but collectively poor..indians are individually poorer but collectively richer..i think we need to face the reality that they have a bigger economy and a larger population and the west likes to suck up to them to counter china hence why they are touted as a richer economy etc..of course their debt is massive too..

honestly some of u guys should really consider looking into the definition of racism. calling someone a racist is a serious remark. honestly speaking i dont disagree with anything what they have said, be it the media or collingwood , personally i find it quite baffling that some of us find their comments about lack of infrastructure or facilities as somewhat astounding, if anything its an established fact.

Fine, we know there is lack of infrastructure or facilities, but to acknowledge it and accept is another thing and going round maoning about it every other day is another.
They know perfectly well Pakistan is a developing country and they can't get everything they want. The bottom line is they are Snobs, who take everything for granted, and when they see ordinary ppl working hard for a living, and living in a world of uncertainty it bamboozles them. |
