Whatever happened to good old Music?

nowadays we have 50 cent this and tupac that, i mean one guy cant stop talking about his crazy bi**hes and the other guy is dead, the game cant stop talking about his son and his life, jamie foxx has started to sing (well not really).
Ever since the new millenium, everyone has been after fake, computerized music i.e, rap, dance, trance. Whatever happened to REAL music i.e drums, guitars and proper singers, i think real music is starting to fade away and FAKE music is coming into the market, women like mariah carey now are more bothered about the sex appeal in a song than the actual song, whatever happened to real music, like U2, Coldplay, RHCP, etc, people dont seem to like them anymore and would rather listen to sugababes and the game.
In my view pop music, dance, trance, r+b and rap(to an extent) , is all fake music, and everytime i listen to it i cant stand most of it, id rather listen to REAL music.

I just thought i would point this out because i just had a big argument with my mate about it and i wanted to know what u guys thought.

It's the insane money involved in music which is doing it and its teenagers and early twenties kids who are killing music by driving a market full of pap and cr@p!

Music labels know all they need are some good looking people in skimpy clothes with any old rubbish song and they have the next big thing.

I totally agree. What are some of the bands which interest you? For me its a varied choice, ranging from classic rock legends Pink Floyd to metal gurus like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. The latter might be to heavy for some to digest though.

Bilal, I bumped 'rock songs/albums you recommend' for you. I wouldnt say that type of music is dead or dying - just that you have different genres that are popular at a particular time. Even now, you have some excellent rock and metal bands out there, you just need to look hard enough

bilal you just not looking in the right places. I think Green Day was the resurrection of rock to be honest. I listen to alot of rock and alot of "real" music with drums and such. Infact just a month ago, I went to a Yellowcard(rock) concert.

Depends on perception and mainstream tastes. Even then, there are bound to be more bands that you dont like than you do like. Its a simple fact.
I'll give you my 20 favourite bands

Tool, Opeth, Metallica, Pearl Jam, RATM, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Nirvana, Darkest Hour, U2, Green Day, Trivium, Rise Against, Deftones, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Strike Anywhere, Bad Religion, Guns N' Roses and Iron Maiden.

Out of here Nirvana, RATM and Black Sabbath are over (probably Iron Maiden too). Metallica, Pearl Jam, Megadeth and GNR are pretty much on their last legs as well - but that still leaves 12 bands. U2 and Bad Religion are pretty old but theyre still doing pretty well. SO we're left with half the bands. Green Day and Opeth are as strong as they ever would have been (BTW, if you havent heard Opeth you have to give them a listen). Tool and Deftones havent released new material for a while (but theyre far from dead - expect an album from Tool next year and its bound to be outstanding). The remaining bands all started within the last 10 years (some such as Trivium have members still in their teens). They're all bound to get better. Its a case of leaving alone mainstream music. Majority of proper rock and metal isnt about selling records and making money anyway.
