Congratulations Tanvir Ahmed!

5 on debut, and that too against the mighty South Africans. Deserves all of it, it's been a long wait for him. May this be the start to many more! Congrats!

Awsome bowler, love his in DIPPERS. thanks to allah we got gud bowlers before the WC 2011.

Wahab Riaz
Tanvir Ahmed
Gul
Akhtar
I wish Amir comes back otherwise who else is left. Razzak is allrounder so not counting him still these 4 bowlers are great and inshallah they will do good. i think combination of

Wahab Riaz
Tanvir Ahmed
Akhtar
will be great and if anyone one of them not doing gud so they can be replaced by GUL

Not easy to take a 5-er on a flat pitch against a South African batting lineup that is more than comfortable at playing pace bowling.

I think your expecting too much from Tanvir Ahmed - relax, it's only his first test game and to take 5 wickets, on flat wicket against a world-class, at the age of 32 is out-standing.

I'm not saying he needs time to be as good as Asif. My point is that it's unfair to compare Tanvir to Asif's class after his first test debut, infact his debut hasn't even been completed!

Shame he wasn't given a chance until he is 32 years old. Not so quick but seems to hit the deck hard. I ilke the fact that he seems to have decent control over line and length, unlike the twit Sami.

Well he only started to impress in the last couple of domestic seasons,a lot of players reach their peak later than others at around 29-30 like Saeed Ajmal.

I agree he seems a very good test bowler. bowled better then talha, sohail, abdul rauf , irfan and wahab. Though wahab looks a better one day bowler then a test bowler. Because in test one has to be very good at setting batsman up and building pressure on the batsman by bowling to a plan.

Congratulations to tanvir on a brilliant bowling display a very good side.

6-for in the first innings against the mighty African team in conditions not-so-conducive for fast bowling, outstanding performance!

Hopefully, he can back it up in matches to come. Needs to work on his fitness thou, I heard he was a kind of fitness freak but couldnt take 2nd new ball late in the day. Something to work at

Selectors won't be regretting anything because they are always happy to Select players who have strong links and backing.

Deserving players are rarely Selected and when they are Selected then team management made sure they don't get a chance to play that's why tanvir was not Selected in england tour and yesterday he wasn't given a chance to bowl with the second new ball and rather abdul rehman was given ball when samI got the hammering with second new ball. Today they changed his end with umar gul and was made to bowl from that end which wasn't helping him much.

I was being sarcastic about Tanvir. He's only got a couple of years tops and even then, its only one innings. Can't judge him yet, though this was a really fine debut and I'm happy for him.

Tanvir was struggling with his fitness yesterday. He himself requested Misbah not to give him the 2nd new ball because he did not want to take a risk as he was already having cramps.

He reminds me of that England bowler who retired 4-3 years ago, quite chubby and always use to swing it both ways, can't remember his name.

Dream debut for Ahmed - thought he did well on a flat track, I think he could offer us 3-4 years of service and do a handy job - I have a feeling he can do a even better job when Pak tour NZ in mid-december.

He is what he is, I am really happy for him.

If he does pan out that would be great for Pakistan. Wouldn't have to deal with the immaturity of Amir and other crazies for a while.

We need to see him bowl well for a few games before we can really come to any conclusion.

While he did take 6 wickets, the other team did score about 600 runs.

He's been a good bench warmer. Waqar Younis may feel lonely without him!
