Johnson dropped from Adelaide test squad- report

http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/the...-1225964061861

Basically says that Harris and Bollinger have had the batsmen hopping in the nets. Selectors have been there watching practice.

After practice Andrew Hilditch (chief selector) went and spoke to Johnson in private. Usually this means you are dropped.

In the oz team if you are in, you get a phone call from the Operations Manager, not the selectors. If you are dropped you get a chat with Hilditch so report may be true.

This is exactly how it happened to Hauritz last test (called up to meeting with Hilditch 2 days before the match).

they should give him one more chance this series before dropping him. The guys just down on confidence. He's got the potential to be a great bowler and should be persisted with.

They persisted last ashes and he just got worse. Adelaide pitch will be just like Brisbanes unexpectedly was- low and slow. If he lost his pace he has nothing, no swing, no accuracy to fall back on.

Makes me quite sad. Was a big fan of the guy seemed like he had heaps of potential. Hope he is not discarded but given help to overcome what is quite obviously a mental issue.

if it's true, then the correct decision.

Mitch is not in form, in confidence, in rhythm, or in the right place mentally.

he's a class act, and will be back in no time.

He hasn't been in form since the SA tour, apart from few good spells in between.

Intresting to see if Hilfy gets dropped as well?

I think Bolly and Harris should both play.

You know, when Botham was right at the end of his career in 1993, he took a few wickets for an invitation XI against an Aussie touring side.

We reckoned that the Aussies were trying to play him back into the test team.

Why ?

Surely he is a better batsman than North

Ozzies just got to rearrange their team.

Make North the specialist spinner and MJ a lower order batsman.

Hauritz just bagged 5 (4 of the top 5 batsmen) and bowled NSW to victoy in a state game. Selection headaches everywhere.

amongst all the doom, i do remember from the last ashes his overall stats in the series were 20 wickets at an average of 30, which arent bad at all, but yes agree, take his hostility and pace and u have a cannon fodder, but the gabba test match the speeds were down on all the bowlers, broad who was bowling 93-94 in england was on average slower than johnson

u could be right, but i c it different, mitch is a left armer who has never been able to swing the ball back in to batsmen, or take it away to lefthanders, when he first burst on to the scene he was obviously new and batsmen took time to get used to his bowling, but now they've worked him out as a one trick pony, and unless he gets the inswinger ala the mercurial amer, then this guy is gonna struggle
