Abdul Sattar Edhi

Imran Khan

Mohammad Ali Jinnah

Liaqat Ali Khan

(I used to consider Musharraf honest but a bit of American bullying has made me rethink)

I believe Jarnail Ashfaq Kiyani has been pretty decent

I'd add most of our cricket team in the "famous" section, obviously all sports teams included though there are a tainted few. Aisam-ul-Haq

Air Marshal Nur Khan

Ayub Khan imho

Junaid Jamshed seems like a fairly nice guy

Some would argue for Abulula Maududi--I think he was honest but self-defeating in the long run. Too conservative and wanted too much done too fast

EDIT: Javed Ghamdi as nominated by Atif Reza

and also Dr Israr Ahmad though I didn't always agree with him, came across as very honest

And can we gaurantee that they are NOT corrupt? That they have NEVER used their office to take unfair advantage of the system?

That rules out the Air Marshalls.

Mustafa Kamal definitely. Always been a big fan of his. I think work that individuals do need to be appreciated and not be discarded because they belong to a certain party.

Someone earlier mentioned Javed Hashmi - he probably tops the list of honest politicians in Pakistan.

This reminds me of a quote I read in A Journey to Disillusionment by Sherbaz Khan Mazari (good book to read for history buffs). After Zia's death they were discussing who to run the care taker government before the elections.
There was a meeting in progress between Ghulam Ishaq Khan, Sherbaz Khan Mazari and other folks (I forgot who else the book mentioned to be there). At one point Ghulam Ishaq turned to Sherbaz Khan Mazari and asked him who should run the government and Sherbaz Khan Mazari said something along the lines of:

Someone not corrupt, honorable and have the betterment of Pakistan at heart

At that point Ghulam Ishaq turned to Sherbaz Khan Mazari and said:

Well we need to find a Pakistani for this job sorry If I wasnt clear earlier.

Shahbaz Sharif has good intentions, less said the better about his brother though.

EDIT :- Moeenuddin Ahmed Qureshi,he was caretaker Prime Minister in 1993 and did a good job,he cut government waste, clamped down on corruption and introduced a tax on rich landowners.

He was respected figure in the civil service and I think was Vice President of the World Bank.

Jokes aside, from what I've heard and read the work he did for Punjab cannot be ignored. Can't comment much on his performance this term...

It depends what kind of advantage they have taken, it's so normal in Pakistan to take advantage of your post that even the most honest people would have done that at some point so let's not worry about it much as long as it's just minor advantage.

Some Obvious ones are:

Abdus Sattar Edhi
Imran Khan

I am not an expert in Pakistani politics but what about people like:

Jahangir Badar
Faisal Saleh Hayat
Javed Hashmi
Ahsan Iqbal
Marvi Memon
Mushahid Hussain Syed
Amin Fahim
Raja Zafrul Haq

You are talking about the same man who as a caretaker PM ( himself ) gifted quite a lot of things to Senate Chairman Soomro ( again himself )

The News ran this story but their link is expired now but you can still google it to see what i am talking about

Former FIA Director General and current secretary of the Ministry of Narcotics Control Tariq Khosa.

unfortunately he was replaced by gov't for aggressively pursuing corruption cases against the gov't and some businessmen.

Some names that come to my mind right away are :

- Abdul Sattar Edhi - I do not need to speak for his work as it speaks for itself

- Dr Adib Rizvi - Set up SIUT , where everything from dialysis to organ transplants are FREE . They are also setting up a Cancer Hospital . Our own people whom we love to call " shameless " are the ones running this hospital with their donations . They even give you meds if you cannot afford them . The doctors , staff , nurses are all PAID . Have a look at their stats http://www.siut.org/pp.htm . So many dialysis , transplants and other expensive treatments are done every single day . Bila nagha . He went to the US once and was asked by the people who were perplexed as to how he managed to run a FREE hospital at such a large scale for all . He said , " it is not ran by me , it is ran by the people of PAkistan "

- Dewan Farooq - regularly donate to SIUT . One of the buildings has been named after them .

- Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan - the brain behind Orangi Pilot Project . He passed away in 99 though so he will not be counted , right ?

Also , there are people like Ali Zafar and Hadiqa Kiyani who have done so much . Ali Zafar , for example , is going to sponsor higher education of 40 girls .

add Shehzad Roy and Abrar ul Haq to the list too. if it wasn't for the individual efforts to bring relief to the people of pakistan the country would have collapsed long time ago.

Yes there are so many people like them , bro , MashaAllah . I have seen , i know people who are not very rich yet they managed to collect so much fund to send TRUCKS of food and items . Makes me very proud to be a Pakistani .

I talked to this family once where the wife needed kidney transplant . Her husband , who was willing to donate one of his kidneys , had already been tested but his tissues did not match . Her son was donating one of his kidney to his mother . I know she is the mother but honestly how many sons will happily do this for their mothers ? Another family that came from Interior Sindh and had nowhere to live . The mother was being treated at the hospital and they were literally living on streets for her for months . Another man i met , who must be in his 40s with young kids . He used to come twice every week to hospital for dialysis . I honestly saw him in tears because he could not afford coming to hospital every week , let alone his meds .

It just made me think if khuda nakhwasta , this hospital did not exist , what would have happened to all these people ?

Arif Masood Naqvi - founder of Aman Ambulance in Pakistan who charge the least amount of money , 200 rupees , if you are going to a government hospital . I have heard that for private , it is a lot more expensive , i do not know how true that is . Edhi ambulance charges 300 i think and Chiippa , 400 rupees . Chiippa and Edhi ambulance are not exactly even ambulances , just vehicles with a siren , Aman Ambulances are proper ambulances . They have a driver , a doctor , and trained paramedics team to assist you . They provide you proper services like monitoring your blood pressure etc like an ambulance should with a proper stretcher . They have around 50 ambulances in Karachi , i heard and they were going to bring in another 150 ambulances . They do not serve to a certain class . It is for everyone , living anywhere in Karachi . All of their ambulances are out there , serving people every minute of the day . You have to call them and they will reach wherever you need them .

Shehzad Roy and Abrar are both doing very well.
I recently attended Abrar ul Haq's concert (for flood donations) and i am highly impressed by the amount of work he is doing. He is a great entertainer but also has amazing personality.
His appeal for donation was so impressive that people started donating within seconds and local Australian guests were all highly impressed and sponsored quite a few houses for flood victims.

The change in Pakistan will only come when we have a leader who follows Allah (SWT) commands and is scared of Allah (SWT). Our leaders are classified as culprits and if we have a person who is scared of Allah (SWT) and his command will never be classified as culprit but unfortunately there is no one among top officials who is scared of Almighty ALLAH (SWT).

How about Ramzan Chhipa - the chairman and founder of CWA (Chhipa Welfare Association)? Chhipa ambulances play a big part (like Edhi ambulances).

They seem to have a good roadmap for the future as far as serving the community in more than one way.
