Play Akhtar and go for the kill!

I cannot remember the last time pakistan were in a better position than this in an ODI series. They might as well go all guns blazing and professionally see of New Zealand.

I also hope that they replace Tanvir with

He has had a decent rest and is due a good spell because of the class act he is.

What are the conditions like? Will they suit

Depends on the size of the ground really, if it's just another mickey mouse park turned cricket ground, then it's better to rest him as he'd be going for plenty in those childish dimensions.

Play Akhtar ?

Why on earth would you want to play a 90mph wicket taker when you have a 70mph trundler who cant take wickets or bowl economically ?

I think we need to look at bigger picture and that is getting some match practice for Shoaib before the WC starts.

And it's not like Tanvir isn't gonna go for 6's either.

Yes,he should be included in the next match.Shoaib Akhtar badly needs some match practice,it would be suicide for him and Pakistan's chances if he is simply selected for the first group match at the World Cup and expect him to start working the magic right away.He must be given ample time to prepare and get some fitness and rhythm.

Why change a winning combination? Secure the series first.

Desi Joker, your post is suggesting that Shoaib Akhtar is a 'dead rubber' player. You are wrong, he is a big match performer. We are more like to secure the series with the services of this man rather than without him.

My post is merely suggesting that we shouldn't change the combination that has won us the last 2 games.

But Tanvir on both occasions hasnt been impressive, he is a walking, needing replacement. Either Aamer, or for now Akhtar

Agreed with both the points, but Akhtar's been expensive recently, but then again it comes down to your first point about match practice. Let's see what the think-tank thinks
