"ICC or Beloff Haven't Been In Touch Since the Hearing" : Salman Butt
Former Pakistan captain's cricketing career hangs in the balance and by Saturday he is likely to know on "what ground he is standing on".
One of three cricketers to have spot fixing charges made against him, Butt faces discredit from the game of cricket, with some reports claiming that a life ban will be issued on Saturday in Doha. As Butt prepared to leave Pakistan for Doha, PakPassion.net spoke with the southpaw who captained Pakistan to 2 test victories in England last summer including victory over Australia in Leeds in his debut test as skipper. "Neither my lawyer Yasin Patel or I have any prior indication of how the outcome will turn out. We'll have to wait till the 5th just like everyone else." stated Butt The spot fixing hearing outcome was not announced after the end of the hearing as the player's lawyer(s) wanted thorough clarification on the basis of the justice's decision, resulting in a delay in the announcement and the hearing having to reconvene on 5th February. Butt added that there had been no further requests for clarification on any of his evidence or statements from justices Albie Sachs, Sharad Rao and Michael Beloff, QC. "They (ICC or Michael Beloff QC) have not been in touch with Yasin or I regarding clarification on any statements that I have submitted or any of my evidence at the hearing" stated Butt. Briefly interrupted by the murmurings of his son brought a reminder to me that the hearing isn't just about Salman Butt, or Asif or Amir, but also about how the hearing will impact on the families of all three cricketers and how it will affect their futures. Butt speaking of the travel arrangements interestingly added "There is only one flight to Doha from Pakistan and that leaves in a few hours time. I guess Amir and I will be on the same flight, but I have no idea of Asif's travel arrangements". The world of cricket waits with waited breath and Albie Sachs, Sharad Rao and Michael Beloff, QC, the justices who listened to the testimony in January will make their findings public on Saturday, although Saturday could not be the end of the prolonged matter as all three players are expected to launch an appeak to the CAS, if they are unhappy with the outcome of the hearing. ![]()

the eery silence... the calm before the storm.. no clarification questions, could that be a good thing... or a BAD thing... (i.e. they already know the judgement and the backing for their case!)

Salman needs to learn some legal practices and procedures, ICC was a party in case .. hence they're not suppose to stay in touch with accused players, Michael Beloff is the Judge and he has to remain unbiased and never in any legal circumstances any judge would stay in touch with some one who is being trailed in his court.

not surprised, its not as if they were interested in the evidence anyway.
verdict had been decided well in advance in this kangaroo court.

Go to hell Salman
You could have won some of the lost hearts if you had just come clean from day 1, instead of spinning this episode as some kind of conspiracy against you and Pakistan. You could have helped save Amir career who has only been quiet because he considers you as an elder brother I hope you and your two acquaintances are given life bans for good tomorrow and we can leave you (and many like you in future) behind us. Thank you for your services but Pakistan has alhumdulillah done better without you and others over the past many months. Go lick Mazhar shoes |

Sounds like Beloff wasn't in touch during the hearing either given the length of time it's taken to get a verdict.

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less about Butt. He averages 29 or something in test cricket. Whether he plays for Pakistan or not doesn't really affect him to much and he probably knew that sooner or later his below average performances would have got him kicked out of the captaincy. He comes from wealth and I'm sure he can do plenty outside cricket and that is something he knew very well when deciding to fix. Probably thought lets cash in whilst the times are good. He couldn't give a crap about anyone else - as shown by his recent comments on Afridi - all the stuff he said about unity was pretty much fake, just like him. He was quite happy to take Aamer down with him because a) Aamer was profitable to his match fixing ring and b) he couldn't care less about Pakistan and C) he couldn't care less about Aamer. Why did he make Aamer his brother? - So that he could use him for more money. Makes me sick.

Absoulute Joke ICC is.
Well lets see what verdict they give our players. Even 1 of them being able to play cricket in the near future would be a bonus.

What I was referring to was that there had been no requests for clarification of evidence from the Justices. If thats not clear then let me know.

look what these guys have done? sold there pride, sold the humility, sold their innocence away for what? paper. no matter what the final verdict will be, the taint on these players will always be present. how could they, with such a honour to be representing your country, be shameful enough to play for pakistan again with the same love and pride? playing for pakistan is not all about throwing a ball and hitting with a bat, its more about representing the people, the millions you represent around the world, the uniform you where, the mark you represent, is all pakistan.

The more i hear about the case the more i think that whatever decision is given tomorrow or whenever they decide to enlighten us, that decision was made a long time ago, even before the initial call from mahmood to majeed.

Thanks for writing it all out bro - must have taken time and effort.. Agree with every single word you've said - spot on! ![]() I had a soft spot for Butt because the chance I met him, he was very respectful to me, even more friendlier to my mother. His status raised a number of notches up simply due to that. When you've met a celeb, you want them to be the perfect beings on earth - because it would further allow one to flaunt about it.. And Aamer was like a diamond in the rough with his bowling.. Its too sad, but we've got to move on.. Clap the dust off our hands and move on..

She spoke to him for 10 minutes, and had the audacity to call him IMRAN! That was the MOST embarrassing moment of my life - although he was kind enough to laugh it off when I said "Pls dont pay attention to her, Salman bhai - she gets excited like that.." ![]() Good times........................... oh crap ![]() Inshallah =) Actually, *nervous laughter* I dont. Whatever I know is from what I see and what I read. I've only seen Beaconhouse Garden Town play a match - just the basic highlights (shown on City042). It was the same branch as Salman Butt - yes the coincidence is appalling. But that was because a friend's bro was playing. He was pretty quick, got some nip and turn - I hope he makes it big, my friend says he wants to be the next Aamer. But for a 12 year old, he seemed pretty quick and got some swing, so I hope everything goes well for him.

His sis gives me details of how he puts in 6-7 hours a day worth practice, his main aim is the Pak. team and all. Nice to see people STILL taking cricket seriously after the recent football fever pak. seems to be engulfed in..
