Why wasn't Junaid Khan sent to NZ in first place?

We have all seen Sohail Tanvir and the majority of us didn't want him in the squad and moreover Junaid Khan had a very good tour of West Indies and really deserved a chance at the highest level.

The NZ tour would have been ideal for him as the wickets would have suited him and he could have overcome his nervousness already before the WC.

Now he is dragged in the squad for WC without any experience and if he fails in one of the matches he might not play again in the entire WC.

Let's hope they play him against the minnows and I wish him good luck.

Yes, he should play (probably ahead of Akhtar against minnows). However, his list A avg isn't that amazing, seems like more of a test bowler.

Bad planning and Afridi wanted Sohail Tanvir IIRC. Regardless, Junaid Khan gives us a surprise package, and hopefully he lives up to his hype.

I disagree sending him earlier would have lead other countries to pick up his action and swing by watching videos. Now they will have to face him with less time to figure out his action.

I think hes a good bowler and he will prove it Inshallah...

b/c sohail tanvir is more experienced and a better bowler when fully fit... fitness of a player can only be really found out after playing real cricket games, now that he is not fit or not bowling to his potential, we need someone else.... players get injured better now than in the WC.

If Junaid has a kink in his action then putting him in NZ land tour would give ICC enough time to put him under radar, now ICC will not get a chance till the end of worldcup.

Second, if Tanvir was actually in any form, he would be better that he can bat.

pakistan could have lost the ODI series, if it was not for tanvir.

in the 3rd game, pakistan was panicking but tanvir hit 3 boundaries to win the game for pakistan. pakistan was 8 wickets down, they could have easily been all out.

tanvir failed with the ball somewhat, but batting was good. maybe pakistan can play tanvir as a pinch hitter in the future.

Salaam. His average is okay in List A, but remember stats are not everything. Appereantly he is talented and put's the ball in the right areams and is pretty determined. So best of luck

Salaam. You have a point there BUT these are bonus. He is there for his bowling, and not for the batting. This should not be the criteria we use to select our players. Also in that case, I think would have sealed us through since there was 14 from 12 req

Pinch hitting is always useful and can sometimes be match changing, but it should not go on the cost of bad bowling...
