WC 11 | Who would have you picked, Khan, Rana or Arafat?

Now where Sohail fitness is a issue all of the sudden and the Pakistan have decided to drop Tanvir and draft promising bowler Junaid Khan into the squad. This desicion can be seen as one against the like of Yasir Arafat and Rana Naved.

If you had to chose between Junaid, Yasir or Rana who would you pick?

I just would like to know your choice

I think Sohail Tanvir should never have been dropped in that case!

Salaam.

I would prefer Junaid Khan over these two because

a) Junaid Khan is talented
b) Junaid Khan has performed well for Pakistan A
c) Junaid Khan is very young
d) We always have a surprise package in every World Cup

Rana has performed well in Big Bash, but that is still not good enough reason to select him for the national team. Yasir Arafat has never been special either and looks more like an average cricketer, despite the fact that he did not get consistent chances. Another factor that goes in Junaid Khan's way is that he is much younger than those ;)

Although one can argue that Arafat & Rana are more capable batsmen than Junaid Khan, but the latter is still my favourite as we were not looking for an all rounder, but a bowler.

True, a bit saad for him that he got snubbed after being the "16th man" in the NZ touring squad, but still Junaid Khan is younger, fitter, faster and a lefty

Replacing a lefty for a lefty. Keeps the variety and gives us another fast bowler in the side. God forbid an injury take place, we have quality bowlers to back them up. Also he gives us an x-factor. No one has faced him and they obviously don't know what to expect.

I feel really bad for Yasir. His record is absolutely amazing and speaks for itself. Poor guy, what else must he do to be given a proper run in the side?

Coz You have no Idea how Junaid bowls and what is his strength. He could be another Irfan, who knows but the thing in world cup you should never try new players.Always go with experience players.Junaid should have played NZ series.I don't like this selection

Rana the flying doormat...

in WC esp in india there is a lot of pressure.. you need experienced hands to handle the pressure... Rana seems like he would do well with his change of pace, off cutters, leg cutters, yorkers etc...

by Strengths I mean his ability to bowl with new ball and older ball too. With Rana you know he can bowl some really deadly inswinging yorkers at depth overs and in sub-continent you will get a lot of reverse swing when ball gets older .Yes Junaid can be a surprise package for opposition but what if he fails? What if he gets the same treatment as Irfan got?

Now he has been selected, nothing can be done so I support him and wish him best of luck.

Well, playing with unknown players have always worked for Pakistan. And if you are good enough, one should not be kept hidden even if it is the WC. Sometimes this can also bring the best out of the players.

Junaid Khan, he has been on the fringe for a while now, and has been consistently taking wickets in the domestic and Pakistan A sides at a good rate.

Since Amir & Asif are now gone for 5 years, PCB need to start looking for new bowlers to take their place.

Shoaib is at the end of the road, this might be his final international outing. Tanvir Ahmed, Rana Naveed, Abdul Razzaq, Wahab Riaz, & Umar Gul, none of them is a potential superstar.

Umar Gul and Wahab Riaz would both be great as the third bowler, Gul maybe good enough now as the second bowler.

So we do need to start looking at new bowlers and see if we can find another gem

I do agree with the suggestion that Junaid should've been included in the NZL series as well.

But that is how PCB operates.

I think Junaid is a good decision.

I don't care how well Rana is performing in Big Bash or whatever, we've seen him on the international stage, he always leaks runs. We already have Shoaib for that. Plus, after the whole under performing stunt he pulled, how can any of you even want him in the team!?

Yasir Arafat is a sad, sad case. Should've played at least 50 ODI's by now, but I think it's too late for him. I honestly would not have minded Yasir as he probably would've leaked very few runs and would've been a great middle overs option.

However, every world cup, we pull out a surprise and that usually helps us win. Inzi 92. Amir 09? Junaid 11. Yes. I think so.

maximize Pakistans chances of winning HOW ???

hes actually a very ordinary player, just a medium fast bowler and yet bowls so many no balls always wilts under pressure and his batting is almost useless considering we already have 3 allrounders afridi razzak and haffez.
and even if i ignore all of that he was one of the oath takers , he underperformed on purpose which is just not acceptable.

understand y i hate him now ???

Yasir for sure, hes the most deserving of the lot, but I will take Junaid.

Rana would have been a poor selection IMO, hes too inconsistent and we can't afford inconsistent players, we already have Akhtar and Gul, who don't turn up quite often.
