Asian Wickets and so many aggressive players Dhoni, Sehwag, Watson, etc.

no i don't think so. None are capable of doing it except for Sehwag I feel. And he wants to bat through 50 overs this world cup, so won't be a threat for fastest century

If someone is to do it, it'll have to me somebody who plays without fear (and without fear of getting out ), and able to strike boundaries at will.

A very small chance of Yusuf Pathan perhaps doing it. Pollard hasn't done anything of worth with the bat in international so I doubt he'll do it. Razzaq might even stand a chance. The guy that's most likely to break it is Afridi himself.

You need to be "mad" to hit a century in 37 balls. Don't see any player who is mad enough.

You clearly don't understand the magnitude of this record if you think someone is likely to break it within next few decades.

I wouldn't be surprised if this record remained unbeaten 50 years from now.

Both Razzaq and Pathan take some balls to settle down before hitting. In order to ahcieve this record you have to hit from ball one, so dont think so

Afridi himself ... all other hitters like razzaq take time and to make 100 on 30 + balls u need to start from first ball which no one else in this world other than Afridi can do .

I guess Imran Nazir in his prime could have got near .

yusuf pathan will break the 37-ball 100 record. if not in this wc, he will do it later this year

even sehwag can break it. sehwag has hit a 33-ball 100 once in some domestic match in india. if he can do it in domestic cricket, he can easily do it in odis

Right now Yusuf Pathan is the man from which this can be expected.

I believe he already has a 36 ball hundred to his name in IPL against decent bowlers. So yeah he can do it. Mad and capable

and how does that make things difficult for him to hit the 36 ball hundred?

Yea not Sehwag, the max he will get is a 45-50 ball hundred. He is more hungry for the ODI 200 than the 36 ball hundred for which god knows how many innings will have to be sacrificed. Same goes for Watson.

The guy who dares to get that record will be one who wont mind getting out cheapely again and again in pursuit of that record, further that depends on whether his team gives him the license to keep doing that. Yusuf, Razzak are more likely to do it

Simple, He won't get Enough time to score 36 balss 100 If Indian Top Order Clicks well. And If Indian Top Order gets a Collapse, then YP has to Play Defensively which won't help him to score a 36 ball 100. Only a God Gifted Day for Him Can Help him get a 36 Balls 100. But thats not for Grunted.

He could not hit a single six to styen and 1 to morkel on a top edge, which shows that his weakness is genuine quick bowling. but there is no doubt he can hit spinners & medium pacers.

You do know that to beat Afridi's record YP will have to do it in about half the deliveries ?

No-one will break it this world cup. If anyone had the ability, it's Sehwag, but he wants to bat 50 overs.

Can't see it happening soon.

There are teams with big hitters, likes of Sehwag, Gayle, Pollard and Razzaq, but this is one record which i believe will not be broken for a long time.

The most capable out of the current players is Yusuf Pathan. Not razzak cuz he likes to settle down. If yusuf walks in in the 40th over and the other player keeps giving him strike it can happen. it'd have to be a mediocre team though, not sa/eng/wi.

Its a tough record to break. It needs some amount of luck too. I don't see that record being broken in near future.

Off topic, am curious to know how many years did it take for Anwar's record to be broken after the jinx thread was created on PP?

Very tough. To break if Yusuf pathan has a chance to break then even people like gayle and pollard have a chance

Thanks mate.

In Afridi's case, it will perhaps take longer maybe 4-5 years, but with more and more t20 matches being played, the record will surely be broken.

No one believed we could see a 12 ball 50 in international matches, but we did see that in the very first t20 WC.

I have a feeling, the record will be broekn by some no name player who will come out of nowhere and bat like the beast himself.

It has to be Chris Gayle - has the best part of the first powerplay. Sehwag is too defensive for such a task and YP comes in late + has to deal with boundary riders.
