Top-rated US series The Simpsons has ended months of speculation by revealing the identity of Springfield's first gay resident.

In an episode that has just aired in the US, Marge Simpson's chain-smoking sister Patty was outed after Homer became an Internet minister for same-sex marriages.

Viewers saw Patty explain how she fell for professional golfer Veronica in the episode titled There's Something About Marrying, reports BBC Online.

However, there's a twist in the episode when Veronica actually turns out to be a man - his protruding Adam's Apple is unmasked at the altar.

Homer charges $200 to marry couples over the Internet in the much-hyped instalment of the animated series.

The episode is due to air in the UK in May

Yeah i think so .. Marge once took Bart to a child psycologist .. the doctor had Milhouses file on his desk which had "homosexual tendencies"(or something like that) written inside.
