Whats the Best cricket bat you've ever had

Just wondering what the best cricket bat you've ever had is/was? For me its gotta be my 3 seasons and going GN Xiphos 5 star! Also, why is it your favorite bat?

I started playing cricket in 2009 and last year (2010) I did not play much as I was away for most of the time.

Anyways, so far I would say my best bat would be Gray Nicolls Powerbow 3 Star and most of my bats haven't been used properly and some haven't even seen a game ball yet! So a bit too earlier but right now I would say its Gray Nicolls Powerbow 3 Star.

The one I have is 2009 model but the new Powerbow are different as they have different shape alltogether.

If you want I can post pictures of it.

Don't like saying this big but profile is like Mohammad Yousuf's Powerbow bat .

I quite like that shape as it has no concaving and is convex and I like it.

It is not one of the best looking stick as it has 4 grains but is a gun or a bat. If I can get one of those once again I'll buy it, I really like it.

CA Grade1 bat back in 1997 it lasted about 4 years. It was a monster of a bat and the ball used to fly from it!!!

Generally CA bats have performed well for me... I bought Ihsan Crown in 2002 and it was a plank!!

I use to have a MB back in 1997-98 I dont remember which model it was or how many grains but it was a treat I bought it for 1400 which was quite some money back then. It was super light I was of 14 back then and I never had problem with weight but with that bat I hit some sixes ( I was not able to do so before may be it was because during that time I trained very hard and was playing under guidance of proper coaches) but really loved that bat.

Quite a touchy story eh ???

Interesting story. Lots of people vouch for CA and say they have been good all the way.

I didn't knew MB was that old, thought it was newly made something after 2000 lol.

Were MIDS and Montgomery bats good as well, heard a lot about those bats.

Seeing a pattern here.......lots of asian bats doing the job......IMO they are very good for the price......but I think an english made bat made of the same grade would in some cases outperform asian bats. just my opinion......though english made ones dont last very long

I'm surprised that didn't last even longer; older Slazengers have a reputation for surviving season after season.

I used to have a Slazenger iBlade when I used to play in school. My mom got it for me and it was my first proper bat. I looved it so much but it broke during a match at school. I was sooo upset, I nearly cried. :'(

I rate this bat because it was my first decent bat and it went through hell. I mean the way I oiled it back then and literally soaked it in oil makes me laugh now.

My father had played college cricket in his time but I had too much advise from different people and I made a real mess of it. Still the bat gave me 4 years and I scored a lot of runs. I played some pretty serious pace with the bat. I remember a guy in our team clocked at 135 when he was around 17. There was 1 guy in an opposition team who was probably quicker.

At the end it did not break put his to be put down.

I don't know but I have seen few old bats and they are in perfect condition even after decades. One of my club mate has Graham Gooch's bat and this bat plays and ping perfectly and doesn't even have a single crack on it!

Few others at my club have old Gray Nicolls and Slazenger (V100) and this bat is in prestige condition I would say.

Makes me think why those old bats last longer ?

Just saying from my own experience CD.......especially kookaburra bats and puma bats......they are not the strongest but they perform very nicely

Some of those old bats were pressed like rocks! I remember an old Slazenger somebody gave me and surely it would've survived an atomic bomb.

I believe the profile also helps in prolonging the life of the bat. I've always found older shapes with the thinner, rounder edges and smaller spines to outlast newer bats.

I think this has a bit to do with the pressing of the bats, Kookaburras in particular are soft pressed and this offers performance at the expense of longevity.

Exactly. I had a kahuna RP a while back and Every single net session it cracked somewhere and it looked horrible. And despite my hardwork knocking it and preparing it nothing could be dont because its got an extremely soft press!

That certainly is unfortunate though I don't feel that a Kookaburra, or any bat for that matter should be cracking every session.

Even a soft pressed bat, like a Kook should last more than a season without too many problems. I would have contacted Kookaburra if I were you.

QS bhai did you buy the bat with that colour or did that happen over the years because arent most GM bats have a whiter cleft please excuse me if im wrong

2 bats i ever had

MB classic cost me 1500 rupee bhought just for fun. Its was VERYYYY VERYYYYY GOOD BAT. Best i have had but was stolen from my bag after 3 matches (( and i scored 3 50s with that bat

Nr2 is unbranded bat with MB ZULFI sticker.... was gift but cost 2500

Now i am using Monty bat its also very good . prices 14000

But need new one since seems to bat will crack soon from bottom

Yeah, SS is right. I oiled it quite a lot, and sometimes after the season it just goes darker, don't really know why though.

Oil stays in I would say hence colour gets darker.
