All Out Attack - Pakistan!

Throughout the last decade or so Pakistan's cricket team has been on the wane. Players who once epitomised aggressiveness slowly left the team. Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain, Saeed Anwar, Inzamam were players who always attacked the other team whether in batting or bowling. They had a reputation, they were capable of beating anyone in the world, because when their aggressiveness payed off, no one could stand in their way. Afridi as a player is very aggressive, though as a captain completely opposite. Maybe he is trying to be mature and act responsibly, so as to not lose a game, and the reason being his captaincy, though thats exactly whats happening.

Ever since this world cup has started, this pakistan team has been on the defensive. Start slow, play slow in the middle overs, keep the powerplay till the very end. The first match against kenya highlighted exactly this. We were being defensive, it is one thing to be cautious and another to be defensive. This team's composition is one which highlights how defensive the mindset is of the management. Eight specialist batsmen have been picked, with Abdul razzaq playing at number 8. It boggles the mind as to why razzaq is playing at number 8. Adbul rehman is being picked to contain runs ahead of an attacking saeed ajmal, who is a genuine wicket taker. Rehman when picked last game to bowl against the NewZealanders was told to bowl a leg stump line, because the tactics were defensive. Shoaib Akhtar one of the most aggressive bowlers ever to grace the game, though being tested by age and fitness is still bowling quicker than most bowlers around the world. Yet he is being limited to bowling an off stump line and channel. Where are the yorkers? the bouncers? the intimidation? if he is not capable of delivering them then his place in the team can be questioned.
  • The management needs to bring in an extra bowler, go with our traditional strength, bring in Wahab or Junaid
  • Take out an extra batsmen, as most have highlighted have faith in your batting, an extra batsmen hardly ever rescues the team
  • Bring in Saeed Ajmal ahead of Abdul Rehman, who is bowler used for containing the opposition. Ajmal is a match winner and wicket taker.
  • Move either Razzaq Or Umar up the order. Razzaq should be batting ahead of Afridi atleast, IMO.
  • Tell the bowlers to go for the yorkers, slower balls, and bouncers.
  • Tell the bowlers to look for wickets, a bowling line up of Akhtar, Wahab, Gul, Ajmal, Afridi, Razzaq, and Hafeez is more then capable of picking up 10 wickets of any team in the world.
  • Finally Back every player in the team, whether setting a field for him or letting him bat in his natural aggressive mode.

I believe the only way Pakistan can win this world cup is being aggressive in every aspect of the game. This has been our secret in the past, though these players are not of the same calibre of the heroes past they can create their own legacy.

An All Out Attack against the opposition is when we are at our best and most dangerous.

We're being defensive right now. Can't win without taking risks.

I don't know about the team but our openers are just being very defensive

If they attack they might lose wickets

But when they defend (Not how they usually play) they def lose wickets

What you guys need to realize is that we already are playing 4 bowlers

Afridi
Gul
Akhtar
Ajmal[i wish ] / Rehman

Afridi considers himself a bowler and would never play another bowler, however what he can do and what makes sense is

1- Play Ajmal instead of Rehman
2- Play Wahab in-place of Ajmal where the pitch is NOT Spinner friendly

Inzamam is a legend , but HE WAS NOT ATTACKING.
You can attack when u have no fear of loosing.

If anything we as fans are to blame for the lack of attacking and spineless cricket Pakistan plays. Poor guys have match fixing allegations and death threats to look forward to every time they lose !
