WORLD CUP favourites India are in danger of self-destructing following revelations skipper MS Dhoni is at loggerheads with chairman of selectors and former Test batsman Kris Srikkanth. In a stand-off that threatens to destabilise the tournament powerhouse, an Indian newspaper claims a "stubborn" Dhoni has angered BCCI bosses after a heated verbal altercation with Srikkanth over the composition of the side for its crucial final pool game against West Indies on Sunday. According to the report, Srikkanth and a fellow selector informed Dhoni the panel wanted spinner Piyush Chawla axed in favour of Ravichandran Ashwin, saying "Chawla has got enough chances". But the skipper has allegedly refused to budge and is backing Chawla, prompting an angry Srikkanth to confront team management over the panel's desire to play Ashwin. The selection boss took his grievances to coach Gary Kirsten, but under Indian selection policy Dhoni, as skipper, has the power to overrule the panel.

May i know which is the only brilliant indian newspaper which has claimed that lol.i don't think so srikkanth can interfere in the selection of team for the game at all.he can just select the squad,after that its entirely in the hands of captain and coach.

To make matters worse for India:

OPENING batsman Virender Sehwag is in doubt for India's final group match of the World Cup against the West Indies as he battles a knee injury. "Viru (Sehwag) has got an allergic reaction in his right knee, so we will take that call (about whether to play him) either in the evening or on the morning of the game," said India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. If the dashing strokemaker is ruled out, Test opener Gautam Gambhir would most likely partner Sachin Tendulkar at the top of the order. Dhoni was speaking before South Africa completed a crushing 206-run win over Bangladesh in Dhaka that assured India of a quarter-final spot, regardless of their result against the West Indies.
