How confident are you feeling of playing India? [Merged]

I'm not sure what opponent would have been better for Pakistan, but here we go, its India Pakistan semi final. What are Pakistan's chances?

Reasonably confident. Our bowling can restrict any team on these pitches. And looking at Indian bowling, I can say that our batsmen won't fail.

Zaheer will cause some damage I think, but apart from him, you are right. I think bowlers of both teams will be neutralized to some degree, both teams play spin well.

But at the end of the day, I think on Wednesday it will be 100% based on who can take the pressure!

Had them as favourites before the tournament, and then had my doubts during it, but you did always get the feeling that this was going to be their year.

Everything being equal, it will come down to Afridi's batting.

I think both teams are evenly matched. It'll all be about who can hold their nerve. We don't have anything to lose because frankly, I am quite happy even being in Semis. India, on the other hand, are playing at home.

Yes, India will start off as favourites but realistically, I think Pakistan can win this.

Not very confident to be honest. Our strength is Spin and india plays spin well. I think it would be a batting wicket. Pakistan need to bat first and put 280-300 on board.

Pakistan also must play Shoaib and Ajmal.

I am confident of beating india . India has only good bowler and rest of them are average . We shouldnt have problem playing their spinner at all.
Our bowling is good to restrict them , dont forget they are more under pressure than Pakistan. One of the favourites playing infront of their home crowed and playing against Pakistan .

Between now and the 30th, Pakistan needs to learn how to play successfully against a 12 member team. The Indian crowd is their 12th man. And a very effective one.

If I had butterflies in my stomach before we played WI, I now have Taliban rocket launchers flying around!

But we're the underdogs and I like the attitude of the current Pakistan team and captain.

There are two players we just have to get out early - Sehwag and Yuvraj. In the past, both have consistently performed against us. Having said that, you take these guys out and you've still got to contend with Tendulker and Gambhir. Not easy, but it can be done. Gul is key for us. India I feel are better players of spin, so it's unlikely that our spinners will get a heap of wickets, although with Afridi's form, anything is possible.

Can't wait!

Our strength so far in this tournament has been spin and India has great players of spin.

So that basically negates that.

We struggling chasing down scores of over 240+. (ex: NZ game and had trouble chasing 170 odd against Australia)

But I'm just throwing out my opinion.

Hopefully we can beat India and lift the Cup!

I just have to look at past WC clashes between the two including the T20 WC. Pak have never beaten Ind. I think there will be pressure on Pak with this in mind just as much as there will be pressure on Ind playing in front of their home crowd. But yeah, to be honest not that confident, Pak usually seems to bottle it against Ind in the WC's.

that's a huge insult to the other Pakistani players. You can't always rely on Afridi or put him under the spot light. All of them are match winners not just 1 player

Not very confident, yet I'm scared of saying this here because of being called an 'untrue Pak fan'. Put it this way, My nerves were all over the place when we played West Indies.... but playing India, you can only imagine how bad they (my nerves) are. InshAllah we will win though. Remember the world and their odds may be against us but Allah SWT is surely with us InshAllah. Just make lots of Duas and prayers.

I am honestly a little more confident that we can beat Pakistan than I was of beating the Aussies. Reasons being that they rarely lose 2 in a row. Also, I was afraid that 3 bowlers bowling 90+ mph would create problems for Yuvraj and Raina, but I was proved wrong there, and happily so.

Here's some food for thought:

India top 4 run scorers (Sachin, Sehwag, Yuvraj and Gambhir) have scored a total of 1331 runs at a combined average of 57.89 and Pak's top 4 have scored 763 @ 42.38.

Pakistans top 2 bowlers (Afridi and Gul have taken a combined 35 wickets at an average of 12.23, while India's top 2 (Zak and Yuvraj) have taken 28 @ 19.53.

To me, the gulf in batting is far greater than the gulf in bowling, and India has proved they can handle tough bowling on a tricky track to bat on against the Aussies. Today's performance gave me a lot of joy, but there are still 2 really tough matches to go.

It's going to be a cracker! :shastri

No Sir u are wrong. India have one bowler who can reverse and all pakistani bowlers can reverse sving. And remeber Australia bowling was crap. There spinners was ****.

But i think India have edge over Pakistan since playing in India but watch out since Afridi love to play against India in India

:shastri
It's about even really. And we haven't let anyone make 300 against us throughout this contest (except NZ which was unlucky tbf). But despite whoever wins it will be a great contest and may the best team win.

Our bowling is good to restrict them , dont forget they are more under pressure than Pakistan. One of the favourites playing infront of their home crowed and playing against Pakistan .
the problem with pakistani batsmen that they get out to weak bowlers.. where we have an edge..

I don't want to be too confident, otherwise I'll be even more devastated if we lose.

It's going to be one of those games, if we win, it will never be forgotten, but if we lose, it will also never be forgotten, for the wrong reasons. It will be even worse than 2007 T20.

lolz the thing about cricket is that there are more than two bowlers used in ODIs

why don't you compare the 4 main bowlers of each team when comparing bowling stats...kinda says something when Yuvi is your #2 bowler

On paper India is strong ,but from history its evident that our batting have always made 260-270 against them . So if they make 260-270 then still the game is slightly in India's favor.
I guess its 60- 40 India's favour.
For me Umar Gul's bowling will clinical if Pakistan are to win .

The statistics about our batsmen should be taken with a grain of salt, our bowing has given away a lot less then India's and in the process they've had little runs to play with. We did have a poor outing against NZ but we can chop that one up to Akmal, Canada game was poor but we won by a comfortable margin in the end. Thats 1-2 bad games out of 7 batting wise.

Otherwise, we've only had to chase 170 for our last two group matches and 112 yesterday. India's bowling has been rubbish and I believe our fielding edges them out too.

With that being considered, we beat them out in 2/3 categories with their being a small gap in batting favouring India. This is gonna be a very close game, the mentally stronger side will win and I doubt we'll see a rout on either side.

I chose top 2 bowlers as they had taken the bulk for each team, unlike the batsmen where it's pretty even...

but as you wish...top 4 pak bowlers 47 wkts at 15.62.
Top 4 indian bowlers 43 @ 25.9

How is yuvi being #2 in any way, shape or form worse than Afridi being #1??

But one has to considers the difference in proportions.India can literally bat us out of the game if they score 290-300.

And i guess thats on the cards.

Fair enough.

The way I see it, the most likely scenario for:

1) India to lose:
to be dismissed for a low total, or for Pakistan to bat first and score a large total.

2)Pakistan to lose:
Bat first and score a low total or chase a high total and collapse.

Which is more likely?

To be honest, not very

India's batting line up is very strong and i presume it's going to be a batsmen friendly pitch, in which case pakistan will only win if they can post/score 300+

plus i have a feeling it's going to be an india vs england final

iA pak will win but it won't be easy
