Am I the only one?

I've been kind of a walking zombie since Wednesday afternoon. It was after that Shafiq wicket when I got that horrible sinking feeling in my stomach...The India loss has really hit me hard.

Saturday was worse. They have something that can never be taken from them, they are world champs, #1 test team...what do we have next? West Indies and Ireland?

Winning this WC would have been the ultimate tonic for our nation. God knows how much the people of Pakistan need something good in their lives. If we had lost by a few runs or they chased with a wicket or two left, then it's two boxers slugging it out and one has to lose. But restricting them despite the missed catches and then batting in that manner was horrific.

I ignored the highlights, was at work for the game as I knew watching at home would be too draining. What the hell was Hafeez thinking? I read it on Cricinfo but nothing was to prepare me for when I saw it just now. Ridiculous.

I just see us taking a couple steps forward, more steps back the next few years while our main rival cements a legacy. I don't think it's a good time to be a Pakistan fan. But when has it ever?

There were a lot of positives from this WC, whereas coming into it there were only negatives. You have the talent to be a top cricketing nation, but it is imperative that the team perform well in the West Indies and keep the momentum going.

It is incredibly frustrating. It was a game in which India were not at their best but Pakistan just subsided horribly under pressure. I don't think the players realise yet how big an opportunity they missed.

Be positive thhough. The good days will return InshaAllah.

If India played their best game and beat us, I could live with that. Kind of like in 2003. There wasn't much we could do, we ran into a Tendulkar buzzsaw.

This match was different. It's really dented my passion for Pakistan cricket.

No you are not the only one. I have tons of indians at my school and today was the first day after their WC victory that i went to school. They were all smiling and sharing their experiences after india won the cup. I was very disheartened when i heard these conversations and i kept telling myself "That should have been me and my friends..."

ya I am frustrated at the fact that we had India on the mat and didn't finish them off...just meekly surrendered during the chase...that's what really ticked me off to no end and left me dejected!!!

you just got to move on- nothing will be gained in moaning, thinking about it.

The sun will rise again and with it will come a lot more oportunities to rectify your mistakes of the past

You just got to remian positive and make the neccesary alterations in the team so we improve.

This sums up everything beautifully:

"You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the f$ck on."

You are so not the only one! I'm trying not to think about it but I was very upset. Feeling very frustrated because we played well the rest of the tournament and we really should have won it but we caved under pressure. This one really hurt because it was India and we had it.
Cue immature foot stomping and ranting.

I share your frustrations, it's hard to take a defeat when your team was all over the now World Champions. Sachin was made to look a novice by Ajmal and Afridi and we should have easily chased down the par target.

Having said that we are Pakistan and will have plenty fo great victories to look forward to even against India. Remember we still have a far superiour head to head record and always will God-willing.

No you aren't the only one. This has been really shocking for me - particularly as I am based in Singapore surrounded by Indians. We had a great chance to beat India. 260 is easily chaseable on that wicket against those bowlers. Never mind if we had taken our chances we would have been chasing much less.

I wore my Pakistan shirt in defiance on Saturday - got a few looks but even that was ultimately in vain. In the end we have to congratulate India - they deserved to win and no one will care in years to come that they never really dominated this tournament as was expected.

Get over it and move on. I am sick of this whining. I felt the same for a few days, but life goes on. Pak lost the semifinal, and did not have what it takes to win a world cup (good batsmen who can protect their wicket, fielders who can catch).

Pakistan is mostly a young team right now, so we'll get better over the years and maybe win the next world cup, or the one after that.

Yep! We lost more due to our own mistakes rather than the opposition outplaying us. We need young blood in this team. Good Solid batsmen are a must. Also our players need to be more aggressive in the field. We get too defensive and are smiling at the opposition most of the times. It's great to be nice guys outside the field but inside we need to be LIONS!!!! or TIGERS!!!!! Whatever you prefer! :waha b

Cheear up young guys, as i have been sharing with my younger cousins on FB that this is still much easier than Bangalore 96 to take. But as Osman Samiudin put it on cricinfo that it literally slipped out of hands and we probably don't really realize how close we were to winning at Mohali

One thing I will mention is that as both a player and a fan the defeats are harder to take than the victories. Defeats leave you deflated, demoralised and depressed. It's times like this that you value the things that really matter - the love of your family and your health.

However winning for a fan, and to a degree as a player, makes you feel good, but then you realise you still have all your problems that you had yesterday. So you find that you actually don't feel as good as you expected to.

Or maybe I'm just a glass half full kind of chap!

Disappointed at the lack of sorrow and regret shown by the Pak team after their exit. It was as if a SF appearance surpassed their expectations and resorted to negative excuses such as 'one team had to lose' etc.

It seems ruthlessness is not in Pakistan's reach.

Well maybe they are comforted by the money they earned as a result of losing.......we will never know.

With the money in cricket now, probably players don't have the passion and feelings for fans like they should.

He apologised to the country, yes. I meant at the end of the game interview he was smiling and didn't really express the regret of not winning the match, criticising the batsmen and incorrect use of PP, etc.

The others havn't said anything, besides Wahab I think.

it hurts even more when I think that my parents, my chacha n chachi and family friends were all planning a big get together for the Final as well...we all watched the Semi-Final together...just left us all dejected afterwards...infact parents were seriously upset...some uncles were speechless and left hastily even before our innings finished...

I mean the whole Awaam can't believe we lost from a winning position and our media, and even the players are just brushing the magnitude of this game under the carpet...only Lala so far has expressed his disappointment but the overall attitude of the team seems like laid back albeit disappointed but not like down & depressed like millions of fans!

look guys

our team is on the rise, we have a decent test one day and T20 team

our bowling attack is up there with the best despite losing 2 of the best bowlers in modern cricket

our batting is weak although I think the foundations are strong

remember team india have peaked and carrying lots of players on the edge of retirement

they will struggle over next few years in both departments

be proud of your team and look forward to climbing to the top

Aus and India watch out

Pakistan batting is crap that is what come out the match and world cup , if almighty Indian batting line up made 260 runs on that pitch do you really think Pakistan with its putrid batting line up had any chance.

either the indians fan or pakistani fans would have felt like this..........one team has to lose.

i was a hardcore fan of Brian Lara and when Hayden broke his 375 record i was like man what are the chances that Lara would break that record. In five months.........he score 400.

So there is no guarantee in life...........you just need to be optimistic. Pakistan inshAllah will win the World T20 next year.....and then start preparing for 2015 world cup.

i think we should target for 2012 T20 WC at this moment...although i don't rate T20 WC trophy to be of much importance precisely because it changes hand every year and hence has lost the novelty factor...in 10 years, we won't be able to tell who won T20 which year..BUT for Pakistan its v v important to get into the habit of winning trophies, no matter how small those are...One thing India did very well in the last 3 years is that they won a lot of trophies and finals...Asia Cup, tournament in Australia etc etc...habit of winning trophies matters when it gets to big tournaments..

You are not the only one... I have kinda lost hope... The future of Pakistan cricket looks very bleak to be honest.. This was a good opportunity to grab the world cup... As Osman Samiuddin has rightly said on cricinfo... we have let it slip through our fingers... Our seniors do not take responsibility when they bat.. the junior players simply do not seem to have the temperament to bat for long periods...

We lost wickets to poor indian bowling... there was nothing special in their bowling... we just could'nt attack and domnate their part timers... Afridi gave his wicket away on a full toss.. Abdur Razzak got out playing a very lose shot... Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal gifted their wickets away... Umar Akmal and Asad Shafique perished trying to score as our senior batsmen (Younis and Misbah) were intent upon blocking everything... Who can we rely on...

Its killing me that india won the cup even though they did not deserve it...

Its killing me that we could'nt give a proper send-off to Shoaib Akhtar....

Its killing me that we dropped tendulker 4 times...

Our cricket board is one of the weakest boards in world cricket...

We are not cheats... But the ICC has implicated our prime players... After all the turmoil that our cricket has been through in the past 12 months... justice would have been served had we won the cup or at least reached the finals...

Its not fair... I am lost and don't know what to do...

Pakistan's pathetic batting lineup had no chance of chasing 260. I knew they were going to collapse at some point and the pressure will get to them and they will fall short. I'm saying this without any bias.

Pakistan coming back into the tournament after being dismissed for 74 makes them even more deserving of winning the world cup. They showed character and strength. They always had the talent.

The Indian team has excellent batsmen. But their bowling is below par. Look at the manner in which they got most of their wickets.. short pitched balls, full tosses... there bowlers are not skillful... batsmen threw away their wickets rather than bowlers earning them... The only good bowlers that india has are Zaheer and Harbhajan.. Yuvraj, Nehra and Munaf are mediocre bowlers...

Pakistan lost... India did not win... and that is more troubling than anything else...

But alas... i will have to eventually accept that india won.. whatever the reason may be... Congrats to them...

if that match had not rained out they were out of the cup and like wise in this semis if Sehwag had not missed a straight and nothing delivery , Pakistan would have been chasing 350 and Match would been over after first 50 overs itself.

Pakistan batting was always suspect and it showed its true colors. the the final total was bit flattering for Pakistan but it was never a contest after 150/6 when Razaaq fell the match was over, all Pakistan did after that was make final score look nicer.

India won this match with so much ease and canter in the end.
