Will the Windies players in the IPL be playing against Pakistan?

Some of the best Windies players are also in the IPL, the dates of which conflict with Pakistan's tour. Does anyone know whether these guys will be playing against Pakistan, or will they instead play in the IPL and leave Pakistan facing a second string Windies team?

Gayle and Bravo are not under contract with WICB, so they will most likely not participate in Pakistan's tour.

Sad story, then I expect a total whitewash. Hopefully the rest of them pull out of the IPL and play the tour. It would be great to see a full strength Windies taking on Pakistan.

Yup, I recall Gayle getting a huge snub in the auctions. But if Southee was just signed maybe there's some "hope" for Gayle.

What is the point though, it would be much better for him to simply play the Pakistan series and improve West Indies cricket instead of participating in the tamasha.

Yep! He was not bought by any team, similarly Bravo is still nursing his injury so i am not sure he will play for CSK this season.

That means there is virtually no WI player participation in this IPL.

Lol, that's right, I was pretty surprised when I heard no one gave him a contract. So I suppose he will play, unless there is another T20 tournament with a more financial incentive going on. Also, Bravo is injured, so I am not sure if he will recover in time for IPL or Pakistan's tour.

My Bad! Yes, you are right Pollard most likely to play for Mumbai. But he was never in WI test squad so they won't miss him much.

I hope they all come out and play, but Gayle made his intentions clear by rejecting the central contract.

It was a nice slap in his face when he didn't get picked though. I really like the guy, but that was a cowardly move on his part. Country > IPL.

Agreed, especially given that Pakistan is touring the Windies. It is a shame if a guest comes to your country and you are off enjoying some silly tamasha for a few bucks.

I think Gayle doesn't have a century against Pakistan, India or SL in Tests. He said something like that [might've meant in each country, can't remember]. If not, I hope he scores the one ton against us . Give the Windies fans something to smile about.. given the mauling thats about to come.

Because he cannot play spin at all, even a 12-year old Indian or Pakistani schoolboy will play spin better than him.

This. I can't see anything but a total annihilation of WI in this upcoming Pakistan's Tour (even if Gayle plays, he will be very inconsistent to be a force to reckon with against the likes of Pakistani Bowlers).

Yeah, I agree it will be a thrashing. Sad day when Windies are not even expected to put up a fight on their own home turf.

It was not so long ago that they had a record of being unbeaten in Test matches for a decade! That is truly staggering - not only did they not lose a Test series, they did not even lose one match! Now they are expected to be thrashed at home by a Pakistan team that is not even close to its potential.

Fear not, Imran Farhat and co. will be doing there best to make it competitive. Azhar isn't great against spin bowling either... Younis is expected not to play at the moment too.

May be its about time they split up as individual countries and start participating in various tournaments. If that happens, Trinidad & Tobago could probably achieve more than what WI as a team achieved in the last 10 years.

You guys are over-rating our lineup. We're prone to batting collapses and bowlers who can't put away the tail. WIndies isn't strong but still will put up a good fight against us.

LOL they will be worse than the Associate teams, and it will forever destroy the legacy of West Indies cricket.

lol splitting up won't work, not enough talent there to fill out an XI IMO. They just need to be focused, on paper they're not as bad a team as they make themselves appear.

Roach, Benn, and that Bishoo kid are all capable bowlers. Jerome Taylor's good too, he also has a Test hundred. Gayle, despite his inconsistency, still has an enviable record in all formats. Two triples is very impressive. Andre Russell looks the goods, the Bravo's are both pretty talented as well.

They require coaching and focus, and a bit of an incentive.

Despite having all these, they lack 2 major ingredients to be a decent team. That is Discipline and Sincerity towards their profession(let alone national pride). Gayle could be worst offender in that.
