Can Pakistani great bowlers take up bowler coach option in India.
hi all,
We all know that Pakistan has great talent when it comes to fast bowling. They have some wonderful bowlers who just come and bowl rapid and that too on flat and docile pitches which are paradise for batsmen. Pakistan had great bowlers like Sikandar Bakth, Imran Khan, Waqar, Wasim, Aquib, Sami. Really been great fan of Wasim and Waqar. My question is that 1) Can BCCI hire the services of above greats as a Indian bowling coach. 2) Would Pakistani people mind if Pakistani greats coaches indian bowlers. This can be reason as to why pakistani bowling legends would not accept the job fearing backlash at home. Hopefully the days arises soon when we have a pak bowling coach mentoring our youngsters. P.S- I know Wasim is coaching KKR, but we need the Pakistani legends to work for us as bowling coach. Last edited by aanand; 18th April 2011 at 11:15. |

Unlikely, we can only have Vikram bhai ^^secretly^^ working for us while being in IPL and with the espnstar broadcast team.
It would be cool if he can openly work with us though as a bowling coach

The bowler would be branded as Traitor in this forum if he joins Indian team as a coach.
Akram is already Vikram Future names: Amir will be Amar Asif will be Asit

I have no issues with that, but it has to work the otherway around as well. Also, you can only learn so much, but if you don't have big hearts or talunt even the great 'Vikram' can't help you.

I can see only Imran and Akram fit in as far as temperament goes. Rest of the Pakistani bowlers lack the temperament for a coaching job. Not even Waqar.

I don't think any Indian player would be resented en masse if he chooses to take up a coaching role for the Pakistani team. Some idiots like Shiv Sena would try to make an issue out of it, but, the general public won't give a damned.
The thing is - there is huge amount of money in cricket in India today and most of the Indian "greats" would try to get accommodated, by some means or other, in Indian cricket after retirement. We already see Kumble/Srinath/Prasad in cricket management, many players are working as coaches or mentors for national as well as the IPL/State sides. There is a lucrative role to play in media as well. Most of these cricketers(especially the bunch retiring now) are loaded with enough money to support their lifestyle forever and are not financially dependent on their current jobs. That means that chances of them taking up a coaching role in Pakistan are slim. (unless they are very serious about coaching and managing international sides) However, owing to the amount of money in the cricket industry in India, some of the Pakistani greats can be swayed to take up coaching role in Indian cricket/sides. Wasim's role in KKR has not been criticized so far in Pakistan. But, what will be the public reaction be if he takes a up a role for the Indian national team?
