PakPassion Presents an Exclusive Interview with Iqbal Qasim (Questions Thread)

Iqbal Qasim is the former Pakistan left-arm spinner and was also the Chief Selector before resigning due to differences with the Chairman of the PCB.

Qasim was a miserly but penetrative left-arm spinner. A short man, he was more concerned with accuracy than flight, rarely going for much more than two an over. He also played a huge role in Pakistan's famous 16-run victory over India at Bangalore in 1986-87.

Please add your question(s) to this thread and we'll select the best 20 or so questions for interview.

What sort of differences did you have during your tenure with the other selectors concerning the players? What is based on simply form (performance) or did other factors come into play?

Do you think the Chairman of the PCB should have the final say on the selection of any squad or should it be left to the selectors?

Should individuals who have relatives as first class cricketers be allowed to serve on the national selection committee?

How many selectors should form the selection committee?

As a former left arm spinner, what do you see as the strengths and weaknesses of Abdur Rehman and Raza Hasan?

The NCA is a vital cog in the wheel for developing young cricketers in Pakistan, do you feel that it is being utilised properly?

Selectors in Pakistan are accused of not attending enough first class matchesm your thoughts on that accusation?

What are your thoughts on domestic cricket in Pakistan ? Do the excessive amount of teams hamper the quality and standard of first class cricket ?

This is specific to ONE test match - that one in Bangalore. Can you recount the roller coaster ride? What was going through the players' (Pakistani & Indian, if possible) minds through the highs and lows? Which players do you think (on either side) felt the pressure the most? Who were the poised ones? A lot of us in India believe that Sunil Gavaskar's 96 in that test is the best innings played by an Indian batsmen till date. How do you rate that knock?

Is that too long? Pls feel free to edit if so.

Your thoughts on the Mohsin Khan versus PCB recent "incident" and did it bring back memories of why you decided to retire?

How much of an influence should the coach have on team selection whilst on tour?

Do you think its a good idea for a tour manager to have a say on team selection whilst on tour?
