Naved-ul-Hasan should be in the test team

He's bowling very well for Sussex at the moment, and is the best new ball bowler in Pakistan.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

Yasir Arafat should probably be in there sharing the ball with him, also.

They're both FAR more intelligent bowlers than either Gul or Wahab.

Naved is hardly any slower than Gul or Wahab. Only difference is he bowls decent lines and can actually SWING THE BALL.

I don't think he's been given a fair run, I'm convinced he could be effective for some reason.

To be fair Yasir's only ever bowled in test matches on the flattest of wickets. Also, in England where he's performed the standard of county cricket is very high, he can bat also let us not forget.

edit: I would wager that the Pakistani selectors pay NO attention to the England county game at all, because other players have performed there but not been given a look in. It's a mistake on their part in my opinion.

Arafat and Naved are both required in the ODI team. I think Rana is past it now for Tests.

exactly currently arafat is better than hammad andd razzaq. i just dont know why the selectors keep on ignoring him.

rana is a very good new ball and old ball bowler.

I would wager you to stop following them so closely in the county's.

If the selectors are not going to monitor their performance in the country's then how are they going to know if they are good enough players in the first place.

I hate to say this but I think Rana will be good choice in ODI's, I am not too sure about the Test. He can swing the ball with pace and don't forget he has amazing slower ball. Currently our bowling looks dull in ODI's. junaid is okay bowler, I am not expecting him to run down the opposition, we need someone like rana to bring back the excitement in our team. We don't have exciting characters anymore beside afridi. After all cricket is all about entertainment.

Too many suggestions for the test team on the back of one poor performance.

Rana might be a good choice for limited overs cricket, but not sure if he's for the stamina in him for test cricket. Playing county cricket is different from playing internationals (pressure wise atleast).

Just because hes playing well in county cricket, doesnt mean hes going to do it at test level.

He was pretty average in chances he got at test level.

No he shouldn't. Some serious over-reactions after the last game.

The mentality of players being out of the team looking 100x better than they actaully are amongst some fans is still there though.

I never thought weight was an issue unless the player was tragically unfit (Dwayne Leverock).

India's team is filled with short tubby batsmen. Inzamam was one of our best fielders. Etc, etc, etc

Some are saying he would be better suited in ODIs. I actually think the opposite. The reason he got dropped is because of his inconsistency. In crucial games at crucial times he would bowl rubbish, despite bowling excellent in other games.

The 1st game I ever saw with my own eyes was the final odi pak vs eng 5th odi with the series at 2-1 to pak (one rained off). Pak got bowled out cheaply (130 i think), but then due to asif and others, we got england to 7 down with 30 runs to go and only the tail left. Rana comes in to the attack against Saj mahmood, and bowls 4 wide outside off stump deliveries that all go for boundaries. Game over.

Actually we were 154/9, neither bowled out nor 130.

Point taken though, that was a heck of a crap spell. Wholehearted and occasionally superb bowler, but way too inconsistent was Rana.

Well you hardly keep your eyes peeled on the scoreboard when you go to see your first game. But I'll never forget those 4 fours. I'll also never forget Asif's spell, and that first wicket of Ed Joyce, which was a typical bowled 'Asif ball'.

Yep, agree with points on rana.

Rana should be in the shorter formats of the game. It is really sad that he is not in. With Asif and Amir gone I think Rana and Yasir should both be tried, in fact they can easily go with 5 specialist bowlers along with Hafeez as sixth option with Rana and Yasir because both are handy with the bat.

7. Rana
8. Yasir
9. Afridi
10.Gul
11.Ajmal.

Does the batting look weak with afridi at 9, or the bowling.

Wasn't he banned for underperforming on the 2010 Aus tour of Pakistan?

Kal ka villain, aaj ka hero

I don't know fellas, it's time to move on. Groom Hammad Azam for the all-rounder spot and try to find others as well. Surely we can't just have 4 allrounders in all of Pak? (Razzaq, Arafat, Naved and Azam)?

His team, 70-6, in big trouble. Just lost 4 wickets in 2 overs. What does rana do?

HIT A SIX!!

and he's just hit another 4.

That's another 5 wickets and 10 in the match.

He seems lethal at cleaning up the tail.

Not with that hair style, he shouldn't!

First he needs to shave off those pubes atop his head and then he can be in the team. Afterall, it's all about the hair! Isn't that why Afridi has such a huge fan fan following?

And I also remember his rubbish spell during Champions Trophy '09 SF. Looks much improved though going by his recent stats. If nothing else, the flowing mane surely does!

I hate chubby fast bowlers, his bowling runup is annoying, has huge 'pichwara' and way he twists before bowling crease. Rampaul also fall in same category.
