It's better if you compare the situation of Pakistan before war on terror or after the war on terror.

That will explain everything to you.

Tell that to the government. They are running a budget deficit of over 5% of GDP. With growth for the year at 2% - that deficit is not going to pay for itself. Also Pakistan's trade deficit for the year so far is close to $12 billion. That means the value of imports exceeds the value of exports greatly.

As such Pakistan is running twin deficits. This is not sustainable in the long run and will lead to devaluation of the currency, rising interest rates on government borrowing, and eventually a restructuring of government debts through yet another IMF loan.

This is why Pakistan is so heavily reliant on external transfers. This year has been good for the country. External remittances, money sent by overseas Pakistanis, has covered the trade deficit. However, even with that - Pakistan needs to take money from the US and the IMF to meet the cost of government expenditure. If the government can learn fiscal dicipline, of which there is next to no chance with the current jokers in power, then they may be able to refuse US aid. But until that happens, watch the Pakistani government shine the begging bowl and take it with them on every foreign trip.

A typical blog post. You forgot to analyse why the budget deficits exist. The main reason as to why there is a budget deficit is the cost of war upon Pakistan, thus, without the aid Pakistan would be able to sustain a healthy budget. Secondly the loans that Pakistan currently takes are in US dollars and as the rupee looses more value overtime against the dollar, the loans are becoming more and more expansive, therefore, the aid and the loans are a must to stop. This is just a short-term ''fix'' however it is leading us into a greater disaster. Pakistan must simply put STOP all aid and all loans, increase their tax revenue and decrease their corruption. If those two measures are taken, we will be fine.

No all they have done is cause more problems for pakistan because this wasnt our war to fight it was theirs and because of that we have lost 34000 Pakistani's have died because we want aid and before 2004 their wasnt any suicide bombings inside pakistan and just last year there was 500+ so we can survive without there aid the rate they are going they will finish us completley my full vote is with Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf and Imran Khan.
