Roland-Garros 2011

French Open 2011 starts on 22nd. It'll be interesting how Nadal recovers in time from the Madrid and Rome debacles. For the first time in last six years, we have in Djokovic someone who can finally challenge Nadal's clay domination. Should be very interesting.

I'm always with the underdog, and invariably its Federer at this time of the season. Unlikely but hey, C'mon Roger!

Djokovic has a projected third round meeting with Del Potro, so that'll be a good early test for him.

Indeed. That'll give Djokovic his first stern test, but Del Potro is still not 100pc fit - a torn hip muscle.

Any chance of Soderling emulating his 2008-ness? Nadal is scheduled to meet him in the QF. And he also has a third round fixture against Davydenko. So a hard first week for him.

Fed's part of the draw is quite open. And I discreetly fear if Monfils could be the dark horse...

Big match coming up, Djokovic v Del Potro.

Its going to be a real test for Djoko. Delpo certainly has got the game to trouble him and if anyone ,outside top 3, is capable of ending the streak, its got to be Del Po.

Murray ran him seriously close in the last Masters tournament, should have actually won the match.

But yeah, Novak has certainly gone on some sick streak, and the way he's dealt with the world's #1 on numerous occasions deserves huge respect

more importantly, Davydenko lost in five sets.

He is one of the few people to have a superior head-to-head record against Nadal. Of course all his wins are on hard, but then again, who has a superior head-to-head on clay against Nadal?

Would probably have been a great match, but not to be. Tbh, not even sure it would have been that good considering Davydenko's horrible form this season.

Anyhow, as usual I will root for whoever is playing against Murray (and Federer to an extent as well)

^^ Davydenko is history now. The guy has lost all his touch and his results of late have been pretty poor. He is ranked outside top 30 I think.

The match of the first week would resume tomorrow, DelPo v DJoko.

right bro... this is the hardest it gets for indo-pak jodi.. if they get through this successfully (which they inshaALLAH will) it wud be a walk in the park inshaALLAH.... now wat they need to do is dont let the set go to tie breaker... just finish it by breaking their serve coz if it goes to tie breaker.. bryans are too gud at tie breakers (even they lost the first set on tie breaker, but its once in a blue moon) wid their big serves

Anyway it's a good effort. Lost by the tightest margin. Hopefully one day they can beat the bryan's and win a slam.

Yuhuh, but that was on hard courts where I feel Nadal will always be vulnerable against a player like Murray.

Murray is playing very very well v Nadal. Pulled back 1-5 to 4-6 and was slightly unlucky to lose the set in the end. It was the highest quality of tennis from both men. Murray is rattling Clay Nadal as much as you're likely to see.

Credit where it's due Murray has looked very decent in the last match and a half or so. Very very decent. I still think he's a miserable sod and a rung below the Big Three and probably always will be, but he's a fine fine player. He's already had two Slam finals and numerous Slam semis which makes him better than most GB players of the past, and he may yet win a Slam or two which for a GB player would be amazing given our useless structure.

Am watching it now, this is quality tennis.

And yeah, Murray always seems on the cusp but fails due to a number of reasons, for me it's his temperament that causes the issue; he chucks a bit of a hissy fit when things aren't going his way, and this really affects his tennis.

Yeah he's a tool. He tends to play well for 2 or 3 sets out of every 5. That's usually good enough against everyone except the Big Three.

Murray reminds me of South Africa...its all there, just doesnt happen when it should.
He's improved his temperament a lot in the recent past, but obviously does have a tendency of suddenly reappearing every so often.

Though his fitness is still shocking imo, still easily prone to injury

Fed vs. Nole match in progress. Unusually many exchange of breaks in first set, and its gone to a tie-break. Good to see Fed putting up a fight....

This is a great match, trumping the last one even. Andrew Castle just came out with 'O M G' as in the internet expression. Really suited!

Much more exciting this match, Murray always manages to frustrate when playing the rest of the top 5.

Even if Djokovic wins, Federer will take something out of him it looks like. And if Federer wins they might as well give Nadal the trophy before the final even starts.

Nadal must be cartwheeling, it's a win-win for him...

Federer can win the tournament if he maintains this form in the final.

Djokovic takes the third set 6-3. It will be a choke job of enormous proportions if Fed lets this one slip

Andrew Castle reckons there's another hour to play.

So sick of this **** licking Roland Garros crowd. Federer so much as shanks a winner and they're all on their feet, Djokovic does something awesome and they're as quiet as if someone had died.

It's like crowds at Indian cricket grounds.

the streak ends! high quality tennis..

Murray was outclassed but if he had taken the various opportunities that came his way, perhaps he still may not have won, but would have been a lot closer. Had a few break points... did well to get through the previous rounds, and what a 5 set-er earlier on, winning from the brink of defeat!

anyway... back to the special 2... Rafa and Nadal final!

pretty much agree there...

although he's been in 3 slam finals not 2

You mean the Sri Lanka - India tie of tennis? Meh.

Roll on Queen's, at least I don't have to put up with Federer being there.
