Luka Modric Transfer thread, where will he end up.

So the Luca Modric transfer speculation is by far the biggest transfer news of the season so far.

Lets get the background behind the story, Modric was brought for £16.5m from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008, the 3 seasons he has spent has at Spurs he has become one of the best passers of the ball in the league and interests from other clubs have been rife.

At the end of 2009/10 season speculation in the media was Fergie was very interested in the player and hinted at spurs, Modric and Spurs came out saying he is happy and the club and looking forward to playing Champions league football next season. That was the end of that.

Fast forward to May 2010/11, Fergie votes Modric as the best player in the league at the PFA player awards and makes sure he lets the media know who he voted for. Since then Papers have made it clear Modric is on Fergie's list of top priories for the transfer season.

It emerged last night Chelsea's Owner had been seeing the situation and made a formal big to Spurs of 22 Million. Note the interesting thing is chelsea are without a manger so this very much looks to be a Owner signing very much like Torres. Luka Modric agent has come out this morning and said the player is happy at Spurs but wouldnt rule out a move if the price is right and spurs are happy with there deal.

Modric is on a modest 40,000 a week at spurs, also spurs are cash strapped so money might pay a big part in this transfer.


Modric play style suits United, one thing we know about Ferguson he dosnt pay over the top price for players, so If united get in a dog fight with Chelsea over Modric I don't see united paying more then 30Million for him. This is where i think chelsea are willing to pay up to over 30 million plus a player if needed to get the guy.

No doubt he is a great player but as a observer i see him going to Chelsea as they can do a better financial deal with spurs. Unless united look into shipping of Berbatov, Carrrick or Evans plus a good 22 million we wont be seeing him at Old trafford.
