An SMS Sent by Soldier standing at Borders

“You may criticise me and Pak Army for everything that has gone wrong in this country, but please don’t abuse my mother, who sent me to fight for the cause of this beautiful land we call Pakistan, who sent me to face the bullets on my chest and not on my back, who sent me to remain awake the whole night so that you can sleep without fear, who sent me to bear the brunt of bone chilling and freezing cold so that you can criticize me and my commanders in your cushy drawing rooms over a cup of hot coffee or a bucket full of ice cream, who sent me to keep the star and crescent fluttering on the rugged mountains of FATA and Kashmir so that you could sing the songs of Aman ki Asha with Indian tricolour adoring your TV screens, she sent me to watch my comrades lay their lives and satiate the Pak land with pure red blood so that you could celebrate your son’s graduation from an American university over a cup of pure red wine, she sent me to receive my coffin wrapped in the Green Flag so that you could stash your Swiss accounts with millions of dollars…..”

No one in the right man would criticise a solider. It is these Generals who are one of the main problems, living a comfy life 100s of miles away from the war zone.

This SMS was really sent by a soldier? First of all, I dont believe so. Secondly what an emotional, over the top stuff. And thirdly, no one abuses soldiers or their mothers. People criticize the generals who are running the show

Obviously, this is fake.

Anyway, the SMS makes no sense. No one is criticizing the soldiers who fight, it's the people making the decisions above them.

Add the misuse of power by some parts of the army and the negative sentiment is understandable.

On a lighter note, the soldier isn't helping his cause by wasting time on such a long "SMS".

no they should criticise where neccessary and praise where necessary..however one must also undertsand the security and geopolitical environment we are facing..a broader understanding of the issues and more balanced criticism would be much better than the usual vitriol!

the over criticism of the army in some cases is un called for and their role and capabilities are misunderstood! this leads to misunderstandings and uneducated criticisms!! vardi pehna gudi ka khail nahin hay!!

def fake.....propaganda style chain email stuff. it was too painful to finish......

should have prob started like
The soldier had a tear in his eye when he wrote this....

He died fighting off an evil Indian attack the same night.. throw in words like "Shahadat" and He was alone against a party of 20 and still ended up killing 19......

and finish the "SMS" with a couple of lines from Iqbal.

wait I am thinking the movie "Border" meets Zaid Hamid......

the people will hate on and on no matter what, funny how they are changing to we only hate generals .

the message is a real slap in the face of these army haters, fake or not. its exactly what these people are who hate the army described perfectly in the message and they will never change and be the first to run away from the country when it gets attacked, they are hopeless that they even attack the army while it defends them so they can live peacfully in their air conditioned rooms with indian songs playing.

Seriously I am surprised by reading some of posts in this thread. Of course they are not living in Pakistan and they don't even care what is being said because they have closed everything back home and don't even care about Pakistan anymore by living abroad.

No matter whether this was a fake or real text message but the message it was conveying was touching in fact. I can BET that no one here would be even be willing to say 'yes' to fight for there country let alone joining Army.

Put your acts together and think for a minute that would you have sleep-ness and fight for 165 Millions people? Would you take a bullet in your chest? Heck you won't take a charray wali banduk's bullet on your back let alone chest.

Rant off!

I agree with CD bhai 100%. The message is clear cut. People just find excuses.

We are only keyboard warriors and are quick to judge/slam.

We complain about politicians.
We complain about army.
We complain by the security intel.

But if somebody really wanted to change something, they won't criticize on internet forums but instead they will put that into action in Pakistan.
We are all to blame including myself.

What a silly generalisation/assumption.

So by living abroad we have automatically burnt our bridges with the motherland?

Most (if not, all) of the overseas Pakistania on this forum would have been raised or born as a result of the decisions of their parents.

How are you equating that to turning our backs on our country?

For all you know people could be earning top dollar in other countries and sending $$ back home - which allows them to help the people in their homeland more than what an average earner living in Pakistan would.

I agree with the general gist of your post (re some of the responses here missing the point) but it really irks me when people think overseas Pakistanis are some sort of ghaddar traitors who spit on their country any chance they get.

Saqib Salman,

I don't think I anywhere said people living abroad are traitors/ghaddars if that was the case then I would be the biggest one on the planet.

What pisses me off is that locally when I see people they would be bashing Pakistan in every manner and Army would also be criticized, those people are obviously living outside Pakistan and they say "We will never go back to Pakistan etc". What those people forget is that they don't realize that when a plant grows it grows from roots and in this case roots are/were Pakistan.

So anyways coming to your post if those people love there country then why did they leave the country first place? If childrens education was an issue then if they have gotten it then why don't they go back to Pakistan? As far money/income is concerned there are a lot of field and people in Pakistan who are getting very well paid and are making very good money in which they are living luxurious life.

I'm not into stats but ifyou look at the percentage of people coming back to Pakistan after leaving Pakistan to settle abroad is very minimal.

As far country's internal mess is concerned we are very quick in blaming politicians but the change comes when you change yourself first!

People don't get it this is not a real sms by a soldier but a Public Message to the Jahil Pakistani awaam. I personally salute all the soldiers of Pakistan Army in spite of having some reservations with the top brass of our Army. It is easy to criticize sitting behind your key board but very difficult to face your enemy on the borders.

I realise you didn't call them traitors, but you automatically assume because someone is not living in Pakistan, he/she doesn't care.

Judge the parents who took their children overseas if you must - but not the majority of the youth posting here.

You soldiers and the lambs that lead you are one and the same, unless you rebel against them, I and many Pakistanis won't make a distinction in your role in bringing nothing but shame to Pakistan and letting it's people down at every opportunity, be it '48 where the tribal pukhtoons whom ironically you cowards are bombing with apache gunships and f-16 on the behest of the uncle sam for dollars, had to bail you out and liberated the azad kashmir when you'll run away with your tails between your tail...in '65 you bungled operation gibraltar and barely made out by not getting over run by Indians when they reacted to your pathetic operation...

The less said about '71 the better, and Kargil was a huge embarrassment, you should have hanged that pathetic excuse of a commando leader of yours for leading you into an operation without any exit strategy...

The only saving grace you fools have is your role in the jihad against the soviets, but now all you do is try to discredit the architects and ideology behind the only war you did manage to win...

I donno how fake/true it is but just replace Pakistan with India and I get exactly similar emails almost on daily basis.

Once again on a lighter note, the soldier behind this "SMS" should work for bollywood.

Melodramatic or what! Karan Johar would be in tears.

Only his commanders have swiss banks accounts with millions of dollars.

No body is abusing soldiers, but we do criticize his commanders for wrong doing.

Government is working for the people, not people for the government.

Firstly, no one (talking normal ppl here not the ones with agendas or are still living in 50s with personal bias) - seriously no one will ever abuse a soldier or his mom.

Condemning wrongdoings isnt propaganda - The first post is the prime example of it - in a real simplistic manner. In fact the first post is so silly you can see right through it - if you havn't been brainwashed into overlooking facts. And its comp the same on the other side as well. I see one of these super corny emails about Indian soldiers each month as well. Just typed by someone (with too much free time) who thinks this is their way of showing love for their nation!

I am Indian and have utmost respect for any soldier sitting on either side of the fence. Soldiers on both sides are following their orders and doing their best.

But if they think that they (the army) are bigger than the nation itself then they are wrong.

If they are themselves destroying the things they are meant to protect then they need to be told off for that.

How can young kids be killed on street like dogs and still praises be showered on such animals (be it army, rangers or anyone else) who commit such sins. I am not talking about the Rangers incident - I am also talking about the wrong doings of the Indian army in anywhere else (Kashmir or eastern states).

People who point out the wrong doings of anyone (be it the army or the Govt) are NOT Traitors. They are the real heroes who have the balls to state the facts. Risking their own lives and their own families in some cases.

Going by the same logic no one should condemn Zardari when he is taking bribes or other party goons who openly bash ppl on streets. After all this is the only Govt/PM who is "protecting" the nation.
