Christian extremist and Hindu extremist link

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik's ringing endorsement of Hindutva and Hindu nationalists has left saffron leaders embarrassed.

Ram Madhav of RSS called it "motivated propaganda", while VHP's Vinod Bansal insisted that his manifesto, in which he has praised Hindu nationalists, "made no sense". However, BJP MP B P Singhal was quoted as saying that the killer's ideas were not wrong but his methods were.

In his over 1,500-page manifesto titled "2083: A European Declaration of Independence", Breivik talks of Hindutva elements as allies and urges them to fight shoulder to shoulder with his knights. His mission: To stem the spread of Islam in Europe. That India occupies a large part of his perverse mindspace is clear from the 100 pages he dedicates to the country. He comes out in support of "sanatana dharma movements and Indian nationalists in general". He provides the BJP, RSS and ABVP websites as references for more information. The Indian government, he claims, should have insisted on a name change of the Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan, because they were named after the Hindus who "were massacred" there. Modern India, he says, "white washed this Hindu genocide", which he likens to "Auschwitz".

Breivik quotes an NCERT directive of 1982 (which actually shows India embracing its multicultural identity) to say he is outraged that it stipulates, "characterization of the medieval period as a time of conflict between Hindus and Moslems is forbidden".

Reacting to Breivik's rant, Ram Madhav, senior RSS leader, said: " His entire so-called manifesto quotes conservative writers from both sides of the Atlantic. Ideological similarities have been drawn from all over, so to say suddenly that it is linked to Indian nationalists or Hindutva is simply motivated propaganda."

The VHP's Vinod Bansal said: "Most of what he has to say makes no sense, except the bit about appeasing Muslims is right. Basically, the UPA government under Sonia Gandhi has been indulging in it and also framing policies in such a way that the whole country is converted to Christianity."

Hindus, Breivik says, have been victims of the greatest historical "genocide" by waves of Islamic jihad.

He quotes right-wing historian KS Lal to argue his point. The most important part of this document is his cherry-picking of history and religion to come to some terribly distorted conclusions.

Breivik claims he wrote several emails and also used Facebook to reach out to people in India. It is possible that he sent his manifesto to the addresses he farmed ahead of the massacre.

There are several themes running through Breivik's tortured manifesto. On the one hand, he attacks Islam and the "appeasement" of Muslims by everybody from western countries to countries like India. But on the other, he has a special place for what he calls the Marxist intellectuals, who, he says, dominate western thought and stifle free societies.

an eye opener.

Zionism and Hindutva are both fascist ideologies, two peas in the same pod. Expected.

I read that guy's manifesto and he comes across as an Islamophobe while appearing sympathetic to non muslims. He supports the Tea Party in the US, the BNP in the UK, and RSS/BJP in India. Zionism, Hindutva, Islamist extremism they are all peas of the same pod. We should not be selective in addressing the evils. Religion is not the culprit here, it is the extremist ideology which is the real threat.

The link he talks about is the ideological similarity between those two. Both right wing christian extremists and right wing hindutva extremists are anti muslims.

But to be fair, all kinds of right wing extremist ideologies are similar. Including islamists.

Exactly.

But to me extremism is not dangerous. Its hate for other which makes it dangerous.

Tell me how is it going to impact anyone if someone is extremely relegeous towards Islam or Hindu or Christian or anything else ?

One can be as extreme relegious as one can. No religion asks you to kill people form other religion.

the problem here is, extremism and hatered go side by side.... If you are an extremist, then a just a small spark can cause a great fire and thus develop the hatered. That's why, in papers, these two factors may put aside but in reality, they are interlinked.

He also calls for Buddhists in China to join his cause. If you read the manifesto, he basically reaches out to every single non-Muslim community.

Moreover, he envisions a "servant class" in Europe made up of Hindus and Buddhists. He is just scum.

Extremely religious is not the reason for this. The real reason is intolerance to others.

The people who are doing violence can never be extremely religious. They are kind of redefining the religion to their own agenda and get more support.

No religion asks for harming other religion. So how can being extremely religious prompt me to take that step. Its ones intolerance and insecurity for others that makes one do those things.

What has this got to do with the topic? Finding it hard to address Christian zionist ideology and it's similarities to Hindutva? If you are deluded in thinking Islam has any sort of thinking which is similar to these two you are very misinformed.

Christian Zionism and Hinduvta aren't religions, they are fanatic/fascist ideologies. Don't confuse them with Christianity and Hinduism. Please post your detailed views as to why you think they are religions.

I can ask the same about how you figured out christian or hindu fascists to be fascists.

If you get your evidence from media I get it from the same place.

Again stop calling troll to others when you can not argue sensibly.

My friend came up with an interesting one over a drink on Monday night. She doesn't distinguish Christian extremism from Muslim extremism from whatever extremism. She considers extremism to be the belief - the religious subtext is simply added afterwards, for justification and suppression of guilt. Not sure I agree but I have been thinking about it...

My Osama reply was not to you either.

I replied to someone who thinks fascists are only in Christians and Hindus and in Islam there is no extremism.
