Like I say, I do hope Muslims by and large in the UK, esp. during Ramadan, show that we are an asset to Britain in these troubling times by defending whats right.

The Turks in Dalston did just that; Pics are on the web - They stood firm against the first signs of the rioters.
I was thinking earlier that I am kinda glad this has happened during Ramadan (obviously it would be better for it not to have happened) since I think that has ensured the Muslims have kinda stayed away from it and long may it remain that way

Actually I stand corrected, there are rumours that Shola Ameobi might be offered a contract extension - quite possible that rioting will start as a result of this . . . . . .

^ True.

Look, we all know the type of TEPs/TEM's (Typical English Muslim) that took part in the initial rioting and some even now, but if it weren't Ramadan I could see loads more piling in to get some freebies from the chain stores.

What we can be certain of is that like the Sikhs are doing in Southall right now, Pakistani/Muslim communties would have similarly not let the minority wreak havoc in the local Muslim communities and would help anyone in trouble in their areas.

Yeah, hope it stays that way; The Bradford/Burnley/Oldham riots were for a real reason and there was not any real looting - This rioting is just something else entirely.

Will Joeseph "Oxbridge" Barton be leading the rebellion?

I suspect he'll have one Eye on the Cigars...

So what is the situation like in London now? Have things calmed down now?

Hopefully the cops are on the ball early today so things can be under control and not continue into another day

The sound of police sirens has diminished. The damage done is insane. It'll take some time before things are back to normal again.

^ Well any fires lit are still smoldering; It's really sixes and sevens because of how big London is and different places.

Most rioters have moved on as dawn breaks in the city

But I have fam in South London and they aren't going out still as it just isn't safe round some parts where they work.

Fireworks11

How safe has it been during the day where you are (round Lords?) I'm meant to be heading to central some time this week.

Yeah, so far everything in Manchester is alright.

The GMP force are better at dealing with things if they kick off tonight; Lets hope it doesn't get too bad.

GA - Probably true. If so it shows the privileged will always have better protection.

InshAllah hope lessons are learned fast.

They had four months to plan the Royal Wedding operation. Here they are being caught on the hop because the trouble is flaring up in many places and it is difficult to form a coherent response.

But the Met's morning shift will be making some key arrests of the anarchists behind this badness today.

Seriously what's going on with these police? Do they not have guns or something in England? Let loose and kick the sh!t out of these idiots, the video on the last page showing the riot police backing off was shocking, surely they should have guns!?!? One warning shot and most of these kids would sh!t their pants!

KP shocked by Birmingham riots

Quote:
The riots that spread from London to Birmingham on Monday evening caused shock in the England squad who are preparing for the third Test with India at Edgbaston.

The squad are staying at a city centre hotel and Kevin Pietersen reported that the doors were locked as violence spread through Birmingham.

Police arrested over 100 people in Birmingham as shops were vandalised and looted, with the scenes causing real distress in the camp.

Pietersen said in a Twitter message to former newspaper editor Piers Morgan: "they have just locked our hotel in Birmingham mate... Riots just started here.. Insane!!"

England bowler Tim Bresnan wrote: "Just seen the rioters in Birmingham fleeing down the main street followed by a load of police in the full get up. What's going on?"

All-rounder Stuart Broad said on the social networking website: "Police vans all around Birmingham where we are right now."

Spinner Graeme Swann added: "Goodnight England. Good luck to those surrounded by the carnage. Be safe."

- Not enough police
- Time for UK to pull out of the EU; clearly EU laws are superseding UK laws (on human rights) and a result the police cannot act upon such animals.

having grown up with the type of people who would involve themselves in such activity i find it impossible to believe that there is some political motivation behind the looting, its just stealing because they can.

The only good thing to come out of this is to show how much more focused the police need to be if all it takes is some facebook/twitter organisation to ransack a whole area.

agree with nh abt european laws neutering our cops too. its a sad state of affairs but not if something positive can come out of it.

Interesting what the Russians have to say, they have taken it on a totally tangent, and the paper is not a tabloid, it is pretty much a mainstream one :facepalm

"Komsomolskaya Pravda, Russia
Riots that began in London on the night of Sunday 7 August are spreading across the British capital... "There is real agitation in London's outskirts where ethnic youth groups from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan live... They lack any structure; this is just a boiling cauldron... If we compare the unrest in London with riots on Moscow's Manezhnaya Ploshchad square [in December 2010], the situation here is different, though visually they are alike. These ethnic groups in London... are shouting out that the police treat them in an extremely tough way. In Russia, the ethnic majority came out on the streets to protest against the police's inaction... In the UK, the police need a consolidated political will despite its strength. The authorities should say that 'if you want to live in England, you should work and become Englishmen or go away'... Years will pass before the UK authorities venture to take tough measures in the immigration policy. But these measures will nevertheless not resemble methods used by [Libyan leader Muammar] al-Qadhafi. So, London suburbs will keep burning," says director of the Institute of Political Studies Sergey Markov.

Rob, London writes: You create a society where vastly overpaid footballers and models can flaunt their wealth and behave in any manner they see fit, and are still treated as near gods by the media. You lead our youth to expect instant fame and wealth, and instead they get unemployment, poverty, and no future. And now you act surprised when they revolt.
Indeed, the consumer society is consuming itself now.

The gap between the rich and the poor ; the ones who go to good schools and others to poorer schools ; the ones who get a good level of employment and those who don't - the divide is sickening.

this a sign of collapse of capitalism and western society, just like rome collapsed

the west's honeymoon period is over, with massive amounts of debt and austerity for the future cutting benefits etc the dear old ***** are gonna taste how people live in third world countries.
the facts are brutal their young generation is gonna suffer massive poverty, hunger and lack of jobs , education is impossible because of the fees so there will be virtually zero opputunities to dig yourself out of a hole who is gonna get themselves in 50000+ debt.
also add to that most of these chav ***** and enslaved western ***** are lazy and don't do manual work like asians, africans, east europeans are prepared to do or have families who help each other out support each other financially set up small businesses look after the local community and take pride in it like pakistanis and muslims do.

there was a report about energy crisis in the uk in future that there could be load shedding in the uk in future, energy bills are gonna shoot up the roof , people won't be even to afford to pay energy bills.

my message to pakistanis abroad wannabe freshies forget the dreams of walayat.

walayat is fast becoming a latrine your better off living in pakistan and building your own country.

i'm actually worried that something like bosnia is on the cards here in the uk especially with the rise of the edl and other right wing nutters fuelled by the likes of the sun and daily mail whom i'm sure will refuel of this rioting.

i think it is imperative for muslims and pakistanis here in the uk to be untied vigilant and be prepared to protect your women, property and honour when the time comes. because if the crap hits the fan bigtime we muslims will probably get singled out the most and get the worst of the backlash.

The problem with what you're saying here is that this rioting has NOTHING to do with what "their army have done to Iraq and Afghanistan".

How can you possibly say that the British public should have their lives and houses burned down because of the decisions the army/government have made.

Exactly!! Get to know what it feels like to have your phone shops and electronics stores robbed and your local tesco's looted. The community in Croydon is now closer to the Afghans in Kandhar, and the Brummies are now one with the Baghdadi's.

Ignorance!

Social media has not helped and has added to hysteria and hype - so more excitable youths go out and join in on the looting.

I think that these chavs, the EDL, Nick Griffin etc are very much in the minority. The government and the rest of the country are not going to allow them to do this, which is why I also feel you are overreacting somewhat.

I agree that the state of the economy is poor, but it will not lead to a situation in which foreigners need to fear for their well-being.

Again, the governments decisions re Iraq and Afghanistan have NOTHING to do with these riots, hence your point about the public electing this government is redundant.

So if shops/homes were burnt down in Pakistan tmrw, you'd be ok with it because the public elected a government that makes bad decisions?

They are certainly not as effective as they want to be, and that's because of the manner in which they express their desire for change.

In Clapham, youths are reported to have raided a Debenhams store and a number of shops in Lavender Hill, while some broke into a fancy dress store near Clapham Junction, stealing masks to conceal their identities.

These masked cowards deserve to be taught a lesson,a lot of them are anarchist lunatics.

Credit to London,a major clean up is underway with ordinary Londoners are getting involved.

I am not updated on this at all; The guy who was killed by police, was he a foreigner?

All of the sudden the european countries are not safe anymore. First the attacker here in Norway and now riots in UK.
