These warm-ups for Enlgand: Will Pakistan send a kind of A team or will it be against some local teams (UAE for instance)?

IAJ, I asked the PCB and they weren't sure yet.

I would guess that it will be a fringe Pakistan side, made up of up and coming players and no doubt some familiar names too.

Great planning by the ECB. 2 three day warm up matches and 2 weeks in UAE before the 1st test.

Thank you Saj bhai. I relly hope they send a pakistani team so some of the youngsters can play against the best Test side in the world.

Would be some experience that.

Good planning by England. Those two warm up games will get them ready to go when the first test starts.

Pakistan should also play some sort of matches instead of just using training camps to get ready. Sure they will have matches under their best against Lanka but no harm in playing warm up matches again before a massive series against England.

Slow low pitches will be tough for English bowlers so we have a chance.

If the PCB are too tight-fisted to send an A team or a PatronsXI type team, hope Afghanistan, Ireland or the UAE provide the opposition to England for the warm-ups. It would be good first class exposure for the first two and a nice touch of thanks to the local associations for the arrangements.

Completely disagree.

This should be an opportunity to give some of our youngsters and fringe players some exposure against quality opposition. This is a bilateral series between Pakistan and England....has nothing to do with Afghanistan, Ireland or UAE.

It's not as if the UAE are doing us a great favour....we are paying them for the privilege of using their facilities.

Edit- just re-read your post and yes, if the PCB do, for some inexplicable reason, decide against sending an A Team then the UAE would be the appropriate option given that they are the local team.

Excellent scheduling by the ECB, gives us a good chance of succeeding on a fiendishly difficult tour Seems they have learnt the necessary lessons from the winter.

2 warm ups can be gr8 for our youngsters if PCB utilizes them well....
We need to test young players like NAsir Jamshed, Azeem ghumman, NAsrullah Khan, NAved Yasin, Asad Ali, Sadaf Hussain etc

Yes I did preface my post by saying of Pak don't send an A team. Personally I'd like to see the U-19s play the warm-ups. An A team will include too many tried and failed players (albeit they seem to be making it back to the full team).

But if not, don't think the UAE will provide much practice for England which might be a good thing but from a neutral perspective would be interesting how the Afghans and Irish fare in a fc match.

Normally you might expect the PCB to pay for being able to play on a neutral ground but if we don't play in the UAE the grounds are going to stand idle and empty all year. In those circumstaces you'd hope a competent board would be able to negotiate a good deal.

If the PCB do pay how much do they pay? Who keeps ticket and ground advertising revenues? Who sets the prices for these and covers the cost of stewards etc?

Come to think of it in England the grounds pay the ECB for the privilege of hosting matches and hope to profit through ticket sales, food, drink and merchandise sales. A few of the counties have got into financial trouble by bidding over the odds.

In fact Yorkshire got into difficulty by bidding too much for the Pak v Aus match. So they will have paid the PCB (or possibly the ECB if it was subcontracted to them). If so, why are the PCB paying the UAE for the right to hold these matches?

well if PCB plan for the future this will be a perfect opportunity for the fringe players to gain some experience. only yesterday Wahab mentioned in his interview how important it is for younger players to play against the best.

Khuram Manzoor
Nasir Jamshed
Umar Amin
Fawad Alam
Sarfraz Ahmed
Baber Azam
usman Salhudin
Hamad Azam
Hassan Raza
Muhammed Talha
Sadaf Hussain
the list in endless, they could all do with this 2 match mini series

That would be perfect if PCB can send these players ...

I would be disappointed if this chance is wasted

England had 3 warm ups before the Ashes last winter ... They'll be prepared, should be used to the conditions before that 1st Test.
