Champions League is a disgrace and a joke!!!!

I am talking from the teams' perspective.

How can this be called a champions league, when there are 4 teams from India participating, while 1 is participating from NZ, SL, WI, 2 from SA, AUS and ZERO from Pakistan, BD.

Can someone explain please???

If you want to make it a true competition, even out the number of teams. Absolutely ridiculous and a disgrace to the game.

their should have been only 2 teams from india
and No qualifiers direct entry to Group stage for winners/runnerups
plus pakistani team should have been in tournament

its Looks like an IPL part - 2

And the other flaw in the tournament is that England t20 winner liecs are in Qualifying round whereas Indian semifinalist team is in the Main group (already qualified)

It's just "Champions League" by name due to the foreign teams that are added. It's just an extended version of the IPL, with a smattering of international sides.

Don't start comparing it to the football version as it's not even close.

This competition will only become a serious thing if each nation has equal amounts of representatives. If not that, then the qualifying process should be the same for all teams involved.

Champions League, IPL and all of the money-spinning T20 tournaments out there are a disgrace. The sooner this pyjama, joke of a format is killed off the better. Cricket has been ruined by a few greedy capitalists in Mumbai, supported by a joke of a cricketing council.

And best part is even the teams for Windies, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and England have to go through qualifying round whereas top 3 IPL teams get direct entry and so do teams from RSA and Australia, i.e the owners of the league.

The champions league would be a great concept if it was an ICC endorsed tournament with the winners from each test playing country getting automatic qualification and... say 4 other teams compete to qualify consisting of the runners up from each test playing nation, simple, non biased, and interesting to watch with wide variety of players and teams and not just Indian trash

its a local tournament which is named international. its managed by bcci not icc. its same as super bowl champions in usa are called world champions or wwe champions called world wrestling champion. its more for glamour then substance and should not be taken seriously by anyone.

while i agree with the sentiment, i think theres is nothing wrong with a "capitalist" professional league. its only fair cricketers get compensated on a par with other sportsmen.

the real problem is the implementation and structure of the tournies, which are clearly discriminatory, biased, not entertaining and mean little to the players other then a salary.

there is such an obvious solution to the structure of the champs league to make a short, exciting and fun tournament.

firstly there should only be the champions of the eight t20 competitions from the major nations. they should play a knock out two legged quarter final home and away, four teams should then play similar semi finals with the final at a pre arranged venue.

this is not football, that local supporters cant afford to go to another country to watch there teams, there much be home and away games to generate crowds and interest. invariably every second champs league will be held in india in the future if this structure is maintained.

unfortunately such a structure would be interesting and competitive, and would cost a bit more to the broadcasters, which means we'll pbly have this joke of a competition to have to get through every year.

Who cares about the team??? At least the gentlemen in the stadium are enjoying the artistic display put forth by beautiful young ladies in colorful clothes.

Champions league is a money making machine not really cricket... The indian teams are already qualified as it guarantees more money, as people in India will (obviously) come and watch "their" Indian team...

Mastersahab, it's not about getting Indians worried or quaking in their chappals. It's about self respect and not licking the boots of Indians who don't want anything to do with Pakistan or teams from Pakistan. Indians will continue to run their mouth when we have fans rushing to watch their circus or some begging them to allow Pak teams to play.

Watched a bit of the KKR v Auckland game earlier on today with Lee bowling a good last over to get KKR over the line!

Might watch it for Leicestershire with Razzaq in there so if their games are on a day I am able to, might do so!
