I think this is the most open interview out of all the interviews has his given since the retirement.

He has heavily ripped into Waqar Yunis. ouch

Another Afridi interview?!

Seems like all his problems revolved around Waqar Younis and less with Ijaz Butt. The comment about Waqar's health isn't fair, we don't know if he's sick or not.

Anyway, he gave some good answers. At least, through this interview we find out that he and Misbah were on the same page throughout. So, he won't have too much difficulty with Misbah as skipper.

It's sad how Afridi and Waqar didn't get on during the WI tour, considering they'd worked well for the best part of a year together. I personally think Afridi's stamping all the problems on Waqar which is unfair, though Waqar may well have been frustrated with Afridi's temeprament and been trying to take more control, which would be wrong but understandable

Anyway a surprisingly good interview. Nice to see that Afridi has a good rapport with Misbah, shouldn't be any problems between them InshaAllah

Where is the second part??

Our captains think they own this team. Someone like Steve Waugh couldn't play hauritz in a dead rubber because selector didn't want him to.

its the captain who needs to play the players on the field not the coach, coach job should be planning and then let the captain excecute those plans if it doesnt work then captain should be questioned

I think throughout people assumed Misbah was with Inti and Waqar.

However, here it seems he and Afridi were on the same page and wanted the same team to be selected.

Both Waqar and Afridi were at fault. Afridi for refusing to play and Waqar for refusing to listen to both the captain and VC.

To me our selectors have always been weak. It's their job to pick the team.
Look at Aus and Eng who always pick 12 for a home test. Our lot pick 16/17 to keep everyone happy hence the merry go round.

It would be good to hear what Waqar has to say......otherwise its Afridi's view.
As for getting along with Misbah, I have yet to hear a player on the comeback trail having issues with current captain.

LOL.

Why is he talking about his conflicts with the coach and management to the media? Its not like, he is the only one who has gone through this. Anyone who has ever worked with another person, or a team, knows that conflicts arise, especially when the stakes are high, such as in international games.

You need to be able to resolve these problems yourself, and when things dont go your way, you cannot take it personally and declare retirement until certain people are gone. This the dumbest way to deal with things, and what Afridi is doing right now, is highly unprofessional, and needs some serious guidance on whats appropriate to talk about with the media.

He has the worst economy rate among spinners(Ajmal and HAFEEZ the part timer.

He has the worst SR among all the bowlers.

Min Q 20 wickets.

And who played the most matches? If you go by aggregates there are 50 better batsmen the Bradman but he is regarded the best because he averaged 99.

Look at wickets per match.

Afridi. 1.09
Gul. 1.66
Ajmal. 1.26
Wahab 1.70

and looking at afridi's past record (mediocrity at its finest) he will give waqar plenty of chances to rip into him. It would only be a matter of whether waqar is as unprofessional as afridi when it comes to washing dirty laundry out in public.

I am actually curious to know how Waqar will deny his performances in the world cup and in the previous ODI series under his tenure. Afridi was pakistan's most important bowler.

If people here can deny that then why not Waqar

Afridi needs to learn to keep his mouth shut.....I genuinely still think we could use his aggression and variations in our limited over set up, but every time he opens his mouth it puts me off more and more to have such a prima donna in our side.... Cant he for once just stay away from controversial statements and just keep his head down and work his way back into the side? He should save all these statements for he eventual 7 book series autobiography

It will be good to hear Waqar's commentary during the ODI's i Afridi is the playing eleven.
This shows the difference between the two classes.

He has seen the interview but for the last 2 days, he is trying to convert his sufaid jhoot into suchh, not an easy task but he will give it a try to give some hoosla to Afridi fans .

Didn't want to play because he didn't like the squad for the last (and lost) two ODIs v. West Indies... lol.

I am not one of those who are madly in LOVE with Afridi and also not one of the HATERS. I seriously think he should have given a longer run in charge. But now that everything is sorted out for him and he is coming back in the team, he should keep his mouth shut and should concentrate on his game more than the interviews. Even if he had to give this interview, should have avoided the questions regarding Board, Waqar & Team mates.

Just finished watching the interview. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. The whiners, whingers, haters and mourners will whine, whinge, hate and mourn no matter what.

Carry on Lala!
