The 4 wives rule!

I know that in Islam we are allowed to marry upto 4 women but how many guys here would actually marry more than one if they had the means?

Personally i think one is adequate!

What about the girls? How many would want to be 'one of' your husbands wives instead 'the wife'

Well its like asking a criminal how many times would you like to be hanged, one or four? Of course the last three don't matter, the first one does the job, very well.

Do you not have enough issues in ones life - why would you go and get another wife and get ANOTHER set of in laws !!!

The Saudi King person marries 4 at a time ( thus not violating any Islamic principles ) to unite the tribes of Arabia ( yeah right ) so if you can come up with a justification like that ( i.e. I am uniting the clans from London and Birmingham etc ) , I would say dont even mention that to your existing spouse....

I wouldnt mind trying a 2nd wife (as an experiment of course)

There is nothing wrong with the 1st one, but I get curious!

The flip side is that your 1st wife may put up with your inadequecies/bad habits-wife number 2 may not be so willing to accept any deficiencies!!!

On 2nd thoughts-1 is enough!

after 50, the second and third should be an option indeed provided you have money, why not? at that age, im sure one can handle a second and if not then the wife should divorce you and marry again really for being such a poor excuse of a guy :-D

Actually, not informing the other wives is a grounds for divorce with her and the Islamic court will grant a divorce - local clergy have informed me .

Forget about wife No.2,3 or 4.

The growing phenomenam in Unis in UK is good Muslim girl meets good Muslim boy.

They realise they cannot really enter a haraam relationship (fornication), so they get married.

Then they lead a secret married life for 3-4 years until the course is over-at no stage do they ever live together (to avoid being caught out).

Apart from that they live a FULL married life.

Then after the course is over, the guy Islamically divorces her-and they go back to their lives...careers...marriage with others.

Apart from 'niyaat' (i.e they know they will get divorced in 4 years), I cannot see anything wrong with it.

Personally, if they really love each other-how can they divorce? Must be heart breaking!

I think you need consent Umar.

Having 1, 2 or 4 wives depends completely on the cultural norms. I am not familiar with Saudi culture but I believe it was considered a source of pride at one time to have multiple wives/mistresses. To me the 4 wives rule doesnt apply to us but to those cultures in which men find it an ego boost to have multiple mistresses. Islam just makes it legal and gives the wives proper rights...as opposed to mistresses that have none.

no atys, no consent required per Islam but under pakistani law, consent is requred due to feminist nonsense. ISlam doesnt ask of it.

Dont know the ins and outs of 'mutah' marriage.

Maybe the 'internet generation' have decided to repackage Mutah into a more legally permissable form of marriage.

Also, I think mutah means 'tempoarary' for maybe hours or days...whereas the new agers make it last for the duration of the course.

Khair-no longer something I need to worry about!

muta is a marriage contract which expires after a set period. Its not allowed in Sunni Islam but is still quite popular amongst Shia.

Seems quite a handy solution to todays lifestyle actually!!

Thanks heavens, at least human male's aren't that interested in it anymore. But I think animal males are slowly but gradually finding out the reasons behind it as well.
