Some memories from this series: The Kings of Reverse Swing...
In the past few weeks, "I think the ball is reversing" comment was heard over and over again - made by the ex-exponent himself - the maestro Ustaad IBothamKhan....
From Flintoff to Harmison and Udal , and from Shoaib to Sami to Afridi - no one was spared this honour - it didnt have to be the middle of the innings - it could be the first over of the game when Ian our man , would mention "reverse" in any context ( such as Rameez, your hair has reverse swung to the side today or P. A Lot, where the reverse swinging tea I asked for ) Jokes aside - and criticisms aside - we hope Ian and P. A Lot enjoyed their stay in Pakistan - of course, our very own desi (Lancastrian) Bumbles also deserves a special mention for his wonderful comments - what a guy, eh ? Although I didnt see or hear them ( sometimes good fortune does come my way), apparently, Willis of London also spoke a lot from the studios - on subjects that were related to cricket ( in some obscure way).. I for one hope he DOES retire from his job by summer 2006 !!! |

Botham has changed the way "reverse swing" is used forever !! I really do hope never have to listen to his commentary again.. Waqar anyday over him, atleast he provides some humor.
This was the first time I ever listened to Bumble. He has been a standout followed by Manjrekar. However, really do hope that everyone involved in the game enjoyed their stay in Pakistan and that Ian Botham took some good about Pakistan to share in England. |

i'm danm positive and sure that Bootha saab said the word "Reverse" more than 100times in the whole ODI and Test series. i was so sick of it. everytime he would come he would start using the word "reverse" at 1stage it seemed to me that it's a new vocabulary word for Bootha hence using it non-stop. i think his Father should change his name from Ian Bothan to "I'm Reverse Swing".

Dammit. Stop this sacriledge. We all know that Botham invented reverse swing. He passed it onto Imran Khan, who then passed it onto the 2 W's.
It was because Imran never gave Botham sufficient credit for this that Botham later took him to court........... I thought this was common knowledge?

![]() Shamaan!! It was I Miggy, the inventor of reverse swing. Let me elaborate.....reverse swing is what we refer to in the Phainti parlance as an ulta thapar - Botham is quite used to it as he got a lot of it from Imran and Waqar/Wasim!!! |
