why is afridi being compared with shewag here? Afridi is not a batsman anymore. he is more like a bowling allrounder.

Afridi was a Joker when he was selected in the team as a batsman.

The new Afridi is far from a Joker. He is in fact the most important ODI bowler for Pak. The guy has developed so many variations including Googly.

Many teams will kill to have a bowler like Afridi in their team

No insult to Sehwag, he is very entertaining but Afridi is the most entertaining player in the world.

And I also refer to watch Gayle, KP, Lara and some others more than Sehwag.

Scoring quickly doesn't mean entertainement, I don't think McCullum, Warner, Dilshan and some other players who also score quickly, are entertaining at all.

Disagrees. Sehwag in full flow beats every batsmen!

Sehwag's normal = Ponting's full flow.

Sehwag Full flow > every batsmen.

I think it depend hat people prefer to watch.
I mean, If a guy loves to watch a well played pool or hook shot he will prefer Ponting in any form over Sehwag and vice versa if the guy find the cut shot a beautiful shot.

Personnaly I think Gayle's hitting is more entertaining than Sehwag's... Butthat doesn't mean Gayle is a better batsman or anything.

Entertainment in cricket means afridi, be it his batting, bowling or feilding..

I am sure there are better batsmen, bowlers etc but if we are talking about entertainment then he is the king...

afridi's batting is more unpredictable than sehwag and this unpredictability makes afridi a good entertainer..

IMO afridi's bowling is pretty flat and not that exciting

Although you are correct in that he is far from a bits and pieces cricketer and is an important component of the spin trio that is essential to Pakistan's ODI team his showmanship far exceeds his abilities as a cricketer.

He still under-performs as far as his batting is concerned because he is good enough to be averaging close to 30.

The main reason I referred to him as a joker is because he likes to be in the spotlight no matter what is happening.

I'm in fact a big Afridi fan but I don't fall for his showmanship I like him for his ability.

Pakistanis talking about Pakistanis as being more entertaining, then how conme indians accept that? Shoaib wont be entertainging for an INdian fan, just like Sehwag wont be for a Pak fan, some things are just not meant to be,

The thing is that people are not talking from any other perspective than from a cricket lover's.

From an Indian perspective you can argue that Ravindra Jadeja is more entertaining that Wasim Akram but that is neither true nor constructive.

So make your suggestions from a cricket lover's point of view not from an Indian point of view.

Ok tell me honestly as a cricket fan, who entertained you more often with the bat. Afridi or Shewag? Yes Afridi's 37 ball hundered was entertaining and so as 45 ball hundered. apart from these two innings in the last 15 yrs, how many times did Afridi entertain, compare that Shewag's quick 40+ innings. I would say Shewag has entertained more with the bat than Afridi.

Shewag's ODI average is nothing great, but his 30s and 40+s were really entertaining.

Sure but he doesn't even look like a sportsman, he is short, fat and bald, plus he was very unattractive personality, very unlike sportsman. He can only be entertainment for Indians I suppose.

Sehwag's a brutal player but I'd go with Afridi. He's a crowd puller - literally - with bat or ball. Record number of sixes - Yes. T20 Final 2009 says hello as well.

Not to mention the two innings you refer to were very special, the 37 ball hundred hasn't been beaten for 15 yrs and may never will.

Afridi is ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT and ENTERTAINMENT! No one can match Afridi in entertainment wise, no one in crickets history can.
When Pakistan play atleast 80% just watch the game for BOOM BOOM. His batting is entertainment no matter how long he lasts, his bowling is entertainment and his fielding is entertainment.
The baadshah of entertainment

You hit the nail on the head. Entertainment. When Afridi is at the crease with ball, bat or in the field, something is likely to happen. That is entertainment. Might not be good entertainment for his team or for us fans but it's exciting nonetheless.

That is not entertainment.. more like expectation.. that how long till he displays his intelligence.

Dunno how many times he has failed to play according to the situation.

I've heard the phrase "I'll pay to watch him bat" being used on Sehwag. He'll provide entertainment worth the money.
