Shahbaz Kalia the greatest batsman of all time in tape ball cricket playing an amazing knock at Sargodha stadium in a semi final match of the tournament!
Shahbaz had to chase a massive total of 110 in 6 overs, the opponent bowlers were Zaheer Kalia , Farooq from Sambriyaal and Deema Pakha from Rawalpindi!
But the class of Shahbaz again proved that he is the best as he chased down 110 in only 4 overs!
Date of match: 8 July 2011

He hit 4 sixes against a bowler in our team and told the other batsman "Yaar ai over nai sahi langya" (This over wasn't good).. He surely thought the bowler deserved 6 6's

it has to be pindi- i have played aginst him (1997)- i wasn't given a ball to bowl against him - he hit two monster sixes on top of RMC roof in night tournament
his team scored 117 in six overs and we could manage 110

we lost eventually

he lives in Aria Mohalla i believe-

We have few pretenders in Toronto but no one comes to close to these guys from Lahore, pindi and Wahh, when bowling one should consider himself lucky if he gets hit for less than 4 in an over.

I second that. Remember a match played here where the team batting second had to chase 72 runs in a 2 over match

He looks small though. Doesn't look like he has a lot of muscle.

More tape ball stories please guys! I wanna know how big the boundaries are in general and how much these guys are paid or make $$$.

Also what about spinners? Do they even exist in this format? I would think it would be a little harder to smash a spinner who has no pace for you to work with.

yeah spinners do exist, but they're not as successful as faster bowlers......

hafeez and imran nazir both used to be good tape ball players, but imran nazir was never the top class.....hafeez was top class though.......abdul razzaq was an extra ordinary all rounder in tape ball, but that guy Shahbaz is unmatched! has hit sohail tanveer abdul razzaq and many other for 5 sixes in an over in tape ball.....and remember guys tape ball is not that easy, its easy to hit but its way faster than the cricket ball......coz its a bit light in weight! like if a bowler bowls 140kph in cricket ball he can definitely bowl 160 in tape ball......

yeah, he's doing it since 1990......still at the top being 43 years old..... with a very weak eye sight and swear back bone problems, he's the very number 1 in any rankings of tape ball........he's the Godfather of tape ball!

not sure if he's better than hafiz or farhat, but plays cricket ball very well......haven't seen him personally playing cricket ball, but he plays with the likes of nasir jamshed and even scores centuries.......so definitely had the talent to make it to paistani color, but i guess Almighty had written in his fate to be the king of tape ball!

Dude last time i was in Pakistan, i watched him bat in a night tourney and some of the guys were so quick, i forgot his name, there is a bowler from Kohat, like lightening quick and Kaalia smacked him all around like he was nothing. Tape ball bowlers are not all bout pace though, variations make a bowler more dangerous in tape ball.

Actually not a whole lot impressive.
After batting a few years with tape ball cricket one usually reaches at about the same level of tulla maari as Mr. Kalia currently is.

Look at the targets he was to chase ... 110 runs in 6 overs, and 160 in 10 overs ... what does it tell you? The batsmen in the opposition team were not a whole lot different in tulla maari expertise than Mr. Kalia.

I have seen this kind of batting numerous times here in the local parks of New York. Bowlers are butchered by seasoned batsmen in tape ball cricket. Nothing really impressive here.

na yar its not just tulla maari if a batsman can consistently hit 3 to 4 sixes in an over, its SKILL. I do admire their eye, hand-eye coordination and courage, its not really easy to score 100 runs in six overs. Let me tell you this, there was a guy in lahore who used to bet that he'd score 100 off six overs, he even won a bet against Shahid Nazir.

These guys are skilled and i have even seen batsmen from Wahh cantt who'd hit sixes off perfect yorkers over the keeper head, kind of a scoop shot but a lil bit different and some batsmen who'd slog sweep real quick bowlers for sixes.

yes, variation is pretty much important but pace is essential as well.....

Nothing really impressive here.
bowling matters.......here where 110 was chased in 4 overs.....all 4 bowlers were the best known pakistani tape ball bowlers.....so that makes it big.......and not every day its alike story, i've eye witnessed 60 runs not being chased in 10 overs by shahbaz 11.......after all its cricket......everything happens.....

yes i can hit my younger brother and clear 4 cricket fields.......but when it comes to professional bowlers, they won't allow me to make contact with the ball....lol

Imran Nazir looks like he's learnt all his cricket playing with a tapeball. Saw him in Manor Park, London just the other day actually.

Shahzaib has left tape ball cricket long time ago. But he was very very famous in Karachi in Tape Ball Arena.
