Bleeding 87 yr old left unattended for ten mins because her Muslim nurse was praying

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...e-praying.html

An elderly woman who suffered a fall was left lying on the floor at a care home for up to ten minutes because a senior nurse was praying, an inquest heard.
Abdul Bhutto, an agency nurse, told junior staff they would have to wait until he finished before he would attend to 87-year-old Dorothy Griffiths, who died nine days later.
Mrs Griffiths, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, was left on the floor while the Muslim nurse continued to pray on his mat.
Eventually he arrived and examined the pensioner before telling carers to put her back to bed. She was later found unresponsive and was taken to hospital.

Mrs Griffiths had cut her head and gashed her hip when she fell from her bed during the night and was found on the floor when staff rushed to her room after hearing a loud bang.
A carer went to the care home’s office for help to lift her but Mr Bhutto, who was in charge, said they would have to wait until he had finished his prayers.
Carer Zoe Shaw told the inquest: ‘It took between five and ten minutes because he was praying. A staff member told me we had to wait for him to finish.’

this is quite sad and unfortunate. the nurse should have had someone to cover him whilst he was away and if there wasn't anyone, then he should have fulfilled his duty which was to look after that lady.

Some nurses can be very careless sometimes, for them it's not a big deal coz they see people dying all the time.

Similar thing happened to one of my relatives, when the nurse totally disappeared for half hour and the patient had heart attack during that time. He was left totally unattended and this was in the ICU ... we wanted to complain to the police and let newspapers know but then we decided if he gets well then we won't do it. Hospital was begging us to not inform police or anyone. Nurse would've lost his job obviously.

It is the daily fail.

Nonetheless, this is utterly careless and idiotic on the part of the nurse.

I would love to hear his justification for this.

The thing that makes me think that this could be true is that from watching documentaries and reading articles about staff in elderly care homes they seem very cold and unconcerned about the people that they care for. There have been many articles about neglect in care homes so this story does not seem completely implausible.

What should be quite clear now is that the Daily Mail, The Sun and other rags are only able to pump up the hatred because feckless morons from the muslim community give them the ammunition. I wish I could deport these imbeciles myself.

Well even when the nurse arrived, he decided to put the elderly woman back to bed instead of rushing her to hospital. Just shows he was totally incapable of doing his job. Also, whilst the nurse was a moron , were the support staff clowns? If an elderly person has fallen and had visible head injuries, do you really need to wait for a nurse to call 999? And if that nurse is stupid enough to tell you to just put that person back to bed, do you really just say 'ok, he must have some superior skills to x-ray that elderly person in his own head'?

The nurse was an idiot but his support staff were quite something too.

Sick! Why is he not in jail already for negligence? If he did that to my grandma, I would've made sure he never prayed again. If praying is so important to you then why not substitute someone else when you're not there?

What's next? pausing the surgery and praying?

The nurse had done something wrong. If you are on a job that requires you to be there and serve someone , who might suffer , you ought to be there. Allah ( swt ) knows why you delayed the prayer ...... It is not as if Allah ( swt ) does not know. He is all knowing.

You can blame the Tory cuts because there should have been another nurse on duty who could deal with the situation. Obviously the extra nurses have been made redundant thanks to this right wing government propped up by its Lib Dem lap dogs.

There is nothing wrong with taking a 10 minute break from work, whether it is for a coffee, a tea, a packet of crisps or to pray. Everyone is entitled to it and the Daily Mail can never take it away from anyone, not even us brown people who they hate so much.

Pathetic stuff from the Daily Mail and pathetic stuff from the government to be making nurses redundant.

Of course if the patient was already in this situation and the nurse deliberately left them in that situation to go and pray, it was totally unacceptable conduct by the nurse too. They should be fired for neglecting their duty and putting someone through such pain and discomfort and danger.

There are two sides to every coin.

male nurses, pancies, should string him by the narah and send him to soho

The story doesn't make sense to him, unless he was a first aid expert and noone else knew first aid why did they have to wait for him and not call an ambulance in the first place.
It's lucky he was there in the end so there was someeone to blame for it

Yes. If the nurse used the 10 min break to use the toilet this would have been a non-story. It seems like an unfortunate accident. If there is any neglect then it's the nurse not calling an ambulance. The story is a just a good opportunity to take a dig at Muslims and Islam.

You or your 'mate' must have their wires crossed as it was a male nurse

That is the understanding I get from the article, I might be wrong BUT I suspect the carer (Zoe Shaw) messed up by not calling for an ambulance immediately and she has saw an opportunity to pass on the neglect, add in the prayer factor and the Daily Fail are onto it like a Mackem on cheesy chips
