PakPassion Presents an Exclusive Interview with Ajmal Shahzad (Questions Thread)

I'm delighted to announce that I'll be doing an interview with Ajmal Shahzad.

The 26 year old Yorkshire and England pace bowler has played 1 test match for England where he took 4 wickets against Bangladesh for 63 runs at Old Trafford in June 2010.

Ajmal has also featured in 11 one day internationals and 3 T20 internationals. In LOIs he has picked up a total of 20 wickets and has taken 3 wickets in a LOI innings on 3 occasions.

Ajmal made cricket history on May 23, 2004 when he became the first British-born Asian to play for Yorkshire and is undoubtedly one of the quickest bowlers in England.

An aggressive and wicket taking bowler, Ajmal is also a very useful hard hitting lower order batsman.

With competition in the England fast bowling department extremely intense, Ajmal has not featured in international cricket for over a year but undoubtedly remains on the selector's radar.

Usual PakPassion format, add your questions here and we will select the best 15 or so.

Awesome work Saj!

Question-
Hello Ajmal. I'm an England fan and happen to rate your bowling highly, particularly after what I saw in the games versus Australia 'A' and during the World Cup. In looking to gain a recall, what do you feel your game can bring to the test, ODI and T20 sides that's different to what is currently available?

Ajmal tell us what Waqar spoke to you about in Dubai regarding your bowling? Any tips from him?

You've mentioned previously that you enjoyed watching videos of Wasim Akram bowling, what was so great about him in your opinion?

Has Geoff Boycott given you any tips on batting or bowling?

You've had an injury ravaged career, why do you think that is and do you think you are over the injury problems?

When you were growing up as a young cricket fan, were there any allegiance issues as far as what teams you would support or was this not a problem? Was England your favorite team growing up?

I played against you during your Woodhouse Grove days, and even then you had been picked out as a special bowler. How confident were you back then that you would make it to the England team?

How was your experience of the World Cup in India? The atmosphere at the grounds seemed electric.

What was going through your head before you hit that six at Bangalore in the tied match at the World Cup?

You have good pace - what areas of your game are you working on in addition to this?

Any reasons for your drop in form last season?

Do you see yourself as primarily a limited overs bowler? Or do you also aim to focus on test matches?
